Review: Roots Recovered proved to be a step by step guide in helping me to research a history that before coming across this book I never gave much thought to look into. Not only that, but it helped me to do it on a college student budget, which is "shoestring budget" at best.

Review: The narrative style of this book is very personal...I got the sense that the author was talking to me directly in a casual conversation. It's obvious that he has traveled to the places about which he writes, and his experience is invaluable. The travel section of this book is the strongest and most complete; the part about tracking roots is really more of an introduction, and you'll need to supplement this book with others he recommends to do any serious geneology. But still, it will definitely spark your interest!

Review: This book contains alot of information about how to travel internationally not just to Africa. It also contains bits of history and how to trace one's roots to specific African tribes. Any person of African origin planning to go to Africa should get this book. At $14.95 this book is a bargain.

Review: This book is amazing and is probably the first of its kind. It combines history, genealogy and psychology with African travel in order to improve the Black self concept. It is also a great travel book for Africa and for international travel in general because it shows you how to travel for free or very cheap and demystifies African travel and makes it easy and cheap. All Black people should get this book and use it to travel to thier roots. I have been to Africa and I wish this book was available then. However, now that I have this book I am encouraged to go again.

Review: This book is very different. It is a travel book yet it touches upon history and brainwashing of African Americans and how travel to Africa can change the brainwashing. I love Africa so this book did not directly concern me but people who have a bad image of Africa should buy this book. This book is not what I expected but it was a pleasant surprise. This book will make a Black person not be afraid to go to Africa to see it because it informs you of all the misrepresentions.
