Rating: Summary: A packed resource with great presentation, a bit limited Review: This guide has color photographs and a broad range of B&Bs from which to choose. The listings include descriptions of the houses and rooms, as well as full lists of amenities offered.
The AAA guide is perfect for the medium to higher budget traveler who is planning a holiday. If you are used to the American level of quality and service in B&Bs, this guide will serve you well. The pictures are helpful in choosing between properties, and most B&Bs listed offer many creature comforts and full breakfasts. The most properties are listed in the larger and popular cities, like Edinburgh, York, and London. The listings are more limited in the less populated areas, but still offer some selection.
Only about a fourth or less of the properties are marked "Budget" and are priced fifty dollars or less a night for two people. I ended up returning the guide, because we are planning a month long trip, and we needed a full range of cheaper places to stay. We are going to use "Let's Go," which I've used in the past. They list the cheapest B&Bs that offer the most for the money. If you are planning to travel extensively, and especially in the highlands, I would suggest a different guidebook that has more budget properties, and more properties in the remote areas.
