Summary: North American Road Atlas (2001)
Review: I agree with some other reviews I read. I had ordered it before it was available and was looking forward to receiving it. I agree with the person that said that you needed glasses. It may be a larger format, but the larger format is the book itself! I will return it. Susan Medley

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: I'll need glasses!
Review: I have given this 3 stars as they have included everything that the editorial, outlining the features of this book, says it does. So really it is 3 stars for honesty. But it lost two stars because the whole thing is largely unreadable.

It is huge when it is open. I'm not surprised by the size as the dimensions are given on the site, but the layout of the information within the book is the disappointing thing. You even have to view some maps sideways and I reckon when you try this in a car you'd have to be a hazard to the driver!

We are travelling to the USA for the first time shortly and this book was purchased so that we could plan our trip and use it to get from point to point once there. Well, it has been great for finding out where the states are in relation to each other, and which major highways go where, but that's it. The page that just shows the major highways across the nation looks like someones bloodshot eyeball and is useless. The scale is too small and the feature of the index on each page with the map of the entire state, robs the whole thing of space so you can't even read the list of towns unless you have the book up against your nose.

We'll be buying something else when we get there, and for my money, I would now try the Rand McNally with the spiral binding so that it sits flat. The AAA, being paperback with a couple of staples, has a life of its own when you try to open it.

I'd probably need glasses if I used this book for too long.
