Summary: Incredible value!
Review: For just $29.95, the Trail Finder includes trail and route descriptions from over 1,000 guidebooks! Because it's web-based, it also has unique features such as real-time weather and trail recommendations. I've been using it for several months and it's definitely worth every penny!

Summary: Disappointing
Review: The Trail Finder lives up to it's claim, "the most complete outdoor & travel planning resource." While many existing products only cover 1 state, or only provide topo maps, the Trail Finder includes detailed trail descriptions for over 30,000 trail and trip itineraries for all of North America. The trail descriptions come directly from published guidebooks, so the quality is very good. For example, most trails include detailed route descriptions, photos, custom drawn maps, elevation charts, information on the surrounding area, sources for additional information. It is by far the most complete resource I have found for the outdoors. The Trail Finder covers many popular activities such as hiking & mountain biking as well as less popular activities such as snowshoeing, backcountry skiing, sea kayaking, canoeing, hot springs. It also covers weekend travel itineraries for people that want to go on a scenic drive, a day trip or a weekend getaway. Make sure you purchase this before buying any guidebook or topo map software solution, because it covers both for one low price.

Summary: Great idea, poor customer service
Review: This software is not a good thing. It depends on Adobe Reader 6.0 (ver 5 won't do). Despite a lot of effort on my part as well as Trails.com tech support, we could never get Reader 6.0 to work -- and so this software was useless to me. Neither Discovery Store (the retail outlet) nor Trails.com is willing to refund my money, so I paid $30 for useless software.

Be sure you can use it before putting up your cash.

Summary: Cool service.
Review: Trail Finder turned out to be a really good purchase. The service is really cool and allows you to find outdoor activities all over the place, really quickly. Anyone who enjoys getting out should enjoy this. Great etrails, maps, weather, and search features make it easy to use. I was surprised to find so many other activities, rather than just hiking and mountain biking, that I'm interested in (kayaking, snow shoeing, scenic drives, ...) also inclused in the product. At $30, it's an extremely great value for the price.

Summary: 30,000 trails from guidebooks
Review: Wow. This is really cool. I try a lot of tech products and this one tops them all! Unlike CD-ROM products, Trail Finder is web-based. So, no matter when you purchase it your subscription will be updated daily - new guidebook trails, new topo maps, real-time weather and more! Plus, it gives you access to 1,000 guidebooks all across North America. A huge 'virtual guidebook' for the USA, Canada and more. Unlimited printing of the topo maps is awesome. Great gift too!
