Summary: Beats other types of palmtops and hand-helds, hands down!
Review: I have been using my HP Jordana 680 for over a month and I have say I'm delighted with it. It is by far and away the best Windows CE device yet. It beats other types of palmtops and hand-helds, hands down!

The price might seem fairly steep compared to other PDA's, but you do get an awful lot of for your money, in a very little package. I considered buying a Psion 5, but by the time you had added the PCIMA adapter and the modem the total cost was the same as the HP 680!

I have also found HP's customer service to be excellent, their website is top-notch, their software updates are easy to apply and their telephone staff are superb.

There are several other features I would like to see in Windows CE, but as the operating system can be upgraded there is no reason why they cannot be added at a later date. Some of these are:

* Conversion of files to pocket format on the device itself (this would be handy for email attachments) * The ability to create graphs in Excel * Embed objects within word files * Any chance of a copy of NetMeeting for CE?

So come on Microsoft how about these enhancements?

Summary: Its not perfect but it is useful
Review: I have been using my Jornada for about 6 months and so far I have been pleased. I especially like the fact that I can use the built in modem and web browser to get on the internet and keep current with my mail while I am on the road. I find that on most of my short business trips I can get away with just this instead of my laptop. I wouldn't want to do too much typeing on it but I find I can edit documents and simple spreadsheets on it pretty effectivly.

Summary: Great Handheld PC
Review: I have had experience in both the Palm and Pocket PC fields, owning a Palm Vx and HP Jornada 525. This Jornada 680 is a REMARKABLE machine. The Windows CE is very similar to the normal Windows.

One important thing to think about before buying: Do you want to spend about $600-700 on a new one or spend about $250 for a new and used one on ebay.com? I bought mine there NEW for $260!

The display is wonderful, even though 256 colors. The keyboard eventhough small has many standard features of a normal keyboard. For normal typing, it is not to great, but for touch typing its great. It has a Compact-Flash slot and PC card slot for LAN, etc. It has a 56k modem which is a real rocket.

I have given 4 stars for the small keyboard, which is not a real problem. A MUST for busy people!

Summary: Simply the Best
Review: I have owned my Jornada 680 since last May. It's lightweight enough to fit in my purse. I have typed full reports on airplanes (small enough to fit on the tray with papers). The screen is great. On the road I have no problem connecting to the internet and checking e-mail. I am thoroughly satisfied with this machine. If you are a good typist, this is ten times better than a palm pilot. I gave my palm to my husband!

Summary: Very Pleased
Review: I just got a jornada about 2 weeks ago and I must say I am very happy with my purchase. I also added on a sierra wireless modem to have complete mobile internet access(telnet, ftp, irc, web etc). The Keyboard is a good size but people with larger hands may have trouble typing. Of all of my electro-fetish buys, I would have to say I did not regret making this purchase. Also there is a company called "In Case" designs which makes a great case for it.

Summary: There are better alternatives...
Review: I like the hand-held "PC's"... but not this one. They are terrific for certain functions... basic word processing, email... carrying contacts out on the road... but the HP 680 just doesn't hold up. The hinges broke after only a month of use on the road. HP would not cover the repair under warrenty... because "pry marks voided the warrenty".... OK, but try to change the battery without leaving pry marks. I've since moved to the NEC MobilePro 780... It's much better constructed, holding up to wear-and-tear much more robustly. It's also lighter and gets better battery life... a much better alternative to the Jornada.

Summary: Great device!
Review: I purchased one of these and have been very happy, I just downloaded the latest AOL software, this really beats carrying a notebook computer while on the road.

Summary: Great Mobile Internet Client
Review: I really love the versions of Internet Explorer and the Outlook Inbox on this machine. I use them over land lines and my cell phone. My notebook stays home more, and I'm a more comfortable mobile communicator.

Summary: GREAT for travel
Review: I travel overseas quite a bit including looong airplane rides. My Jornada 680 has been invaluable for getting my paperwork done on my way back so I can spend the rest of my time in the office vouchering my expenses. Ha, I get great battery length and really appreciate the fact that the charger is multi voltage. It is my constant travel companion. Great product.

Summary: The HP Jornada 680 is a powerful business tool.
Review: I use the HP Jornada 680 to keep all of my business contacts handy via ACT!. I also utilize the synchrnonization capabilities with my laptop to keep current versions of Excel and Word files available for immediate access when in the field. I do not have to wait for the laptop to boot-up but can simply press the power button on the Jornada 680 and I can retrieve and modify my data. The Jornada 680 is very fast even when accessing a large file from the FlashRam card. I use Microsoft Streets & Trips 2000 to download a map to the Jornada 680 that includes the places that I will be traveling to that day so I always have a current map when in the field. If you need a powerful PDA that can manage a wide range of business applications and easlily synchronize with a laptop/desktop machine this is it.
