Summary: Don't bother wasting your money.
Review: $800.00 for a little computer? That's crazy! Especially when you can buy a lowend laptop for about the same price and have alot more functionality. Forget the small size. The Small size can't compensate for the lack of compatibility with all Microsoft Office Products. This product is over-priced, incompatible, and a big waste of time. Grab a Palm Pilot for 1/3 the price of this and you get the same functionality as this product and less headache. By the way, if you want color, wait for the Palm IIIc due out later this month.

Summary: I've had them all
Review: ... well, just about. But I've tried the Palm, the palm-sized CE devices and handhelds, in brands ranging from LG to Casiopeia. Nothing beats the HP 680. I particularly like the pocket Excel and Word, as well as the power features that pocket Outlook provides. The Palm minimalists can have their glorified daybook. I'll choose a true computer like the 680 anyday. Buy this product!

Summary: It's GREAT!
Review: A friend of mine had it sitting on his desk with a wirelessInternet card in the PCMCIA slot. The small size, SUPER bright COLORscreen and nice keyboard had me in the store within an hour! It's VERY functional (and I have a pretty small laptop). It's great in meetings. Navigating through CE is fast and intuitive. The keyboard has a solid feel and it's packed with 'Windows like' productivity software. I've only had low-end Sharp units, so for me the 680 is fabulous! I sync with Outlook 2000, get on the Net, send/receive faxes and keep myself busy while my son is "whoop-N'-it-up" at 'Chucky Cheese". It's not small but I usually carry my shoulder bag during business. The color is kind of wild (purple) but it's an OK trade-off for all this unit can do.

Summary: Pseudo Compatability Still a Serious Problem
Review: All the CE based hand held or palm computers have the same basic problem. Lack of real Compatability with the MS Applications they are intended to help you work with on the road. Any kind of complicated documents loose all their traits once they are transferred to the CE device leaving a considerable reformating job to do when you get gack to the office. They also require, generally speaking, reading glasses to use.

If they could handle documents just like real PC MS apps, then you would have something. Till then, they are just an expensive, and usually very large (relatively speaking) address book.

Summary: Great indoors - lousy outside, best CE keyboard but bad
Review: Great for use indoors and as a wireless puppy. Useless in anything but dim light.

Also, how can the Psion have a smaller form factor and better keyboard? Not sure, but it does.

If HP had a clue they would stick the keyboard from the hp200 into this and call it a day - a very GOOD day.

Summary: Great!
Review: Having sworn that I have lugged my heavy notebook with all the fixins' along on a trip for the last time I was delighted with my new HP Jornada 680. Coupled with Expensable 98 and some game software I had all the tools that I needed to keep in touch via e-mail, write notes and memos, keep track of my expenses and a do just about everything for which I used the notebook. My hands are rather large yet with a little practice I have just about mastered the tiny keyboard. I don't presently need to use battery-consuming flash cards so the standard battery worked just fine for me. Probably one of the smartest purchases that I have made in several years!

Summary: A wonderfull Product
Review: I bought my Jornada about 4 months ago,and I think its the best windows ce machine on the market. Its advertized that you can install java from the CD that comes with it,but when I tryed to intall it,there wasnt any Java in the CD,I have been trying to find out if I can get it from Hewlett Packard, but nobody knows a thing about Java for Windows CE. The other thing is that the price is very high,Amazon has the best price for the Jornada, about $150.00 less,of what I payd.

Summary: HP Jornada for Ham and APRS stuff
Review: I got a Jornada for my local group of the Emergency Communations as we can keep track of units by APRS (Automatic Position Reporting System) it allows the Net Control (NC) to keep track of everyone without having to ask over the air. I have the same program on the palm but the screen is so small and I have a greyscale one that the priority messages that arrive in color I can't see. The Jornada has solved all of that. The nice thing about the unit as it's color and it has a real keyboard that I can type on whereas the plam did not. Also the keyboard on the palm would cut out if there was new traffic and I was typing a message. another nice plus is that I can run the unit off of 12VDC with a portable printer, the radio, and the GPS all in the car if need be. I have had this unit for about six months now and love it. The possibilities of the rig are unmatched.
