Summary: Windows 2000 and USB connection not supported
Review: I purchased the Vx for use on my 2000 machine along with a USB conversion kit. They don't work toghether. Palm claims their beta drivers will allow the use of the USB under 2000 however this is not allways true. When I contacted Palm about this issue I recieved a less than satisfactory reponse - "I'm sorry but we don't offer technical help for our beta drivers". This was not the type of response I expect to recieve - I'm returning the products if they don't support them I won't use them.

Summary: Screen is hard to read
Review: I recently purchased my Vx through Amazon, and they were great, shipping it to me very quickly. However, I am sending it back and am going to get a handheld with a better screen. The Palm Vx is hard to read unless you are in very good light. It also does not store birthdays and anniversaries that are in my Microsoft Outlook address files that were synchronized. I'm going to get the iPAQ when it becomes available.

Summary: Great way to organize and look good.
Review: I started to use the Palm Pilot since it first came out several years ago. A year ago due to my travels I switched to another PDA that had more functionalities. Although four months after I bought the other PDA, I realized how much I enjoyed having the slim easy to use Palm Pilot. So I sold the other PDA and bought the Palm Vx. This product has really made a difference in organizing my contacts and my schedule.
The product features are basic, useful and can be customized. If you need more applications you can download or buy most of them. I recommend this product not only for its functionality, but it slick looking design. The Palm fits in your coat pocket and looks good when taken out. Compared to the previous versions Palm has been able to upgrade the hardware (with more memory) and software (the OS works better). One item I tend to use a lot is the IR that can synch effectively with another PC and send various content to other PDA, makes transferring information very easy.
The Palm Vx comes with all the essentials to get started, Protective leather cover, DB-25 Adapter, Getting Started Guide, two Stylii (one plastic and one metal), Handbook, HotSync cradle, Adapter/recharger.
It is a great starting or upgrading point.
Have fun getting organized.

Summary: Not up to snuff compatibility-wise
Review: It's all about what they fail to tell you . . . The Palm Vx is not compatible, thus not supported by 3COMM, with Windows ME. PalmPilot/3COM says to keep checking back with the Web site to see when it is compatible/supported. Not in this lifetime buster! I have better things to do than checking Palm's Web page every few days to find out when their product will be usable.

This buyer returned the product and purchased the equivilant Handspring Visor Prism, which as it turns out, is not only compaitble, but offers color and many add-ons the Palm Vx doesn't offer for $49.00 more.

I am NOT a Handspring employee or stock holder

Summary: Pleasantly surprised...
Review: I was secretly hoping to receive a a Handspring Visor Platinum for Christmas, but received a Palm Vx instead. I have been very happy with my Palm. It's worked wonderfully. It's also nice to not have to worry about batteries, though I'm still learning to leave it in the charger regularly. One gripe -- everyone (including all of the store sales people) seems to think that Palms come with USB cradles. They don't and apparently you can't buy one. You have to spend an extra $40 to get a USB connecter. If Handspring can master the USB cradle, I don't see why Palm's not including them (except as a potential money making extra).

Summary: Real Estate Friendly
Review: I have the Palm Vx and have had it for over a year. It is extremely compatible with Top Producer which is an exhaustive Real Estate program. I don't know what I would do without my Palm. It contains absolutely everything that I have done in Real Estate for the past 4 years. (I had an earlier version of the Palm). It has every single address, phone number, appointment, dates of conversations with Customer/Clients plus the transcripts of those conversations, financial information, reminds me of appointments and meetings. Extremely easy to use the graffiti. I can't understand why anyone would want to lug around a fold up keyboard. If you get stuck there is already a keyboard that is part of the unit. I was surprised that people lost all their information. No electronic gadget is perfect, that's why you have to back-up with your computer. I synchronize every day. Sometimes twice. Just depends on how busy my day is. When I go on vacation I take my palm with me instead of my laptop. It has every bit of information, personal and business that I could ever want. My main piece of advice to a new PDA owner is to throw away your paper agenda, learn the graffiti and get moving. It's fantastic! The only thing that I find detrimental is the glare of the screen. I purchased the film that goes over the screen and the glare is now gone. I do want a color palm but have no reason replace my Palm Vx other than I would just like color!

Summary: Availibility
Review: May I know when is the next availibility of this product? As far as I am concern, this product is currently out of stock. Could you provide me with more info on its availibility thru the web site as well.

Thanks

Summary: Excellent Little Gizmo!
Review: My old laptop had fizzled out and, since I only needed my laptop in the first place to type notes from meetings, I decided I did not need the bells and whistles of another expensive laptop, so I walked across the street from my workplace to Office Depot and took my chances by having my workplace sign a purchase order for a Palm Vx and Palm fold-up keyboard. I definitely have not been disappointed (and neither has my work, considering I saved them at least $1000 by getting this instead of a laptop. I love the compactness of this Palm and the ease of transporting it from meeting room to meeting room and then HotSync'ing the info my PC as soon as I get back from a meeting. I'm also impressed by the fold-up keyboard (see my review for the Palm V fold-up keyboard on this site). The only disadvantage (and this is no big deal to me) is that if I play Solitaire on my Palm with my stylus for more than 30 minutes or so, the screen sometimes freezes up and I have to do a soft restart (I have yet to do a hard restart); however, I see this as minor in nature compared to what my old laptop used to do (freeze up in the middle of meetings and I would have to do a HARD reboot). All in all, very convenient product.

Summary: Lifesaver!
Review: I work in computer support for the university I attend classes at. I can't count how many times my Palm Vx has reminded me of a project, meeting, or appointment I needed to go to. I've owned my palm for four months now, and not a day has passed when I havne't used it for something. If you go through a case of post-it notes in a week, then you should look into getting a palm. And I don't regret spending the extra money on the Vx over the V, considering 1.5MB of the 8MB is used up already!

Summary: So small and sleek, it's almost sexy!
Review: I got my Palm Vx last september because I had used a Newton (PDA) before and I knew I wanted a digital organizer. This model was everything I could have wanted. It's got lots of memeory and the size is absolutely awesome. I can take it anywhere because it's so small. The screen resolution is great and with Avant Go (a free service) it's the perfect companion for reading news and web pages while on the go. A must have if you can afford it. Otherwise, go for another Palm OS device since it's so much more user friendly than Pocket PC devices.
