Rating: Summary: Not Bad-but needs a speaker Review: I have owned the IIIc for two weeks now and this is my first shot at the pda way of life. I bought the IIIc because I missed a meeting and felt that I needed to get more organized. This is the only feature which I feel the palm IIIc lacks. It needs a speaker. There is no way that I can hear the tone for the alarm scheduler. I would like to buy one of the other devices such as HP or the casio but they are so much more expensive and don't have as much available software. Also the IIIc should come with a slide on the side of the unit like the palm Vx so that nicer cases can be made. The glue and velcro used for the III's is just not acceptable for a ... unit. Battery life is ok, it lasts about an entire working day with moderate use and the best feature is surely the color screen. The readability of the screen more than outweights the increase in size from the Vx. I still have not completely decided to keep the IIIc because I really need something that can alert me that I have a meeting!
Rating: Summary: Good view but only 256 colors Review: I bought it , the color display make Palm IIIc seems to be attractive , however , if it is compared with Handspring Visor Prism , it might lost , with 256 color display , it is not very useful for just Memo , address , the color display seems to be not very important , especially the To do list, even you set the Priority to be 1st , it won't high light it as red , so if you just use for memo and address or to do list , better use Palm Vx , Palm V , Palm IIIx or Palm IIIxe.
Rating: Summary: Just too cool! Review: A missed appointment prompted me to puchase a PDA. I had tested the early PalmPilot's but never needed one before. I bought (like many other reviewers here) a Palm Vx for $399. I used this for a week before exchanging it for a IIIc. Same price, same memory, same processor, a little larger, more accessories, and COLOR! With the included plastic flip cover in place, I can put the IIIc into my pocket without much worry of damage (as long as I don't sit on it). Unless you HAVE to have the wireless features of the VII, or you only have the budget for an M100, the IIIc is the way to go.
Rating: Summary: Palm IIIc Excellent Portable Tool Review: Rarely do I leave home without my Palm IIIc. Every morning I HotSync it with my latest email, news and sports information, as well as any of the hundreds of free subscriptions available on the Internet. The screen is outstanding indoors, but sometimes difficult to see in direct sunlight conditions. Consider this factor before purchasing the device. Nevertheless, I find this a minor issue and give the device high marks.
Rating: Summary: Palm IIIc is well worth the extra money Review: I personally own a Compaq Ipaq for my use. But when I got tired of looking at my wifes day planner book that she lugged everywhere I decided that the Palm platform would be nice for her. I checked out the Palm IIIs and couldn't cost justify the IIIc over the IIIxe. That is until I actually tried to use the thing for a few minutes. The IIIc was so much easier on the eyes that the xe. Luckily it was like 2 days later so I exchanged the xe for the color model. The rechargeable battery is also a plus. I HATE HANDHELDS THAT USE REGULAR BATTERIES. I also have a Compaq C series that runs off of 2 AA batteries and a large watch battery for backup power. It sucks them dry in a matter of about an hour. Maybe they last a little longer but it sure doesn't seem like it. Anyway, the color display and rechangeable battery make the IIIc the obvious choice when considering any of the Palm platform. Unless you decide to go with the pocket pc platform. But that is another ball of wax
Rating: Summary: Great screen, plenty of memory and good battery-life! Review: I recently took my new PalmIIIc on a trip to Paris. It was great to take on the plane and the backlit color screen looks crystal-clear. I loaded it with a world clock so I could keep track of the time-difference, I used the memo-pad to keep a daily journal of my adventures, and the built-in alarm woke me up every morning! The unit's battery was only half-empty after a week of moderate usage. As a college student, I'll have a lot of use for this machine in the comming year - class schedules, deadlines, etc...I've also downloaded color subway maps (with a shareware program called 'fireviewer' onto the unit, which have come in really handy and look really cool. I also have been happy with a shareware program called 'AvantGo' which lets you download pre-chosen web sites onto your palm with the touch of a button for free. (I get the New York times on mine...). Durring my morning train ride to work, it's great not to dirty my hands fumbling with a ink-covered newpaper! If having a color screen and lots of memory (8 Megs) is important to you, this is THE choice and take my word, it's a good one.
Rating: Summary: About as good as it gets Review: The brightness of the color made a huge difference! I've owned some model of the Palm Pilot since 1997 and only had frustration with the lack of brightness, NO PROBLEMS NOW! I found a shareware application (Fireviewer) to carry my pictures, now they don't get ruined in my Wallet and I can carry many more family pictures now! The MS Outlook syncronization makes this a great office/personal organizer! I only want one more feature now, "usefull" wireless capability to make this the perfect gadget!
Rating: Summary: I prefer it to the Palm Vx! Review: After hearing so many glowing reports about the Palm Vx, I went out and bought it. I exchanged it within two days for the IIIc. Yes, the Palm Vx is a little bit smaller and looks sleeker, but that screen was giving me too much eyestrain. Ideally, I would like the new Palm VIIx in color, but that hasn't been produced yet. Meanwhile, I'm quite happy with my Palm IIIc, and, as another reviewer has written, the Chrome application looks just awesome on the IIIc's screen.
Rating: Summary: A very good product! Review: The Palm IIIc is fantastic. I don't know how I ever got along without it. I was going to buy a Vx but the resulting headache after using it for about 5 minutes (and my wonderful wife) talked me into the great color screen on the IIIc. The unit is lightweight, handsome, functional, and very easy to use. Installation and setup was "Oh, so easy!" The writing recognition isn't flawless but is very good. Definitely better than any Windows based apps I've used. It comes with 4 core applications that will simplify your life...Date Book, Address Book, To-Do List, and Memopad. My wife can enter Honey-Do's into the Palm Windows software on my home computer while I'm at work so when I get home and HOTSYNC the IIIc there's no way I can forget to pick up the bread and milk! I keep the Palm IIIc with me all the time. There are many accessories to make the Palm "handy" for you to carry but I'm using a velcro camera carrying case that attaches to my belt and fits the IIIc like a glove. There are thousands of third party applications you can download off the internet. My favorites are the ePocrates PDR, a physician's desk reference and TotalcarC, to easily keep up with all maintenance and fuel cost of all your vehicles. If you wonder what you'd ever use a PDA for just search the WWW for Palm software and you'll find more useful applications than you'd ever had believed possible.
Rating: Summary: Color, 8MB of memory and lotsa options ... fabulous Review: WIth the Palm IIIc I replaced my upgraded Palm Professional. Although my first choice was a Palm VII, when I saw it had 2MB of memory and the IIIc has 8, I chose the 8. Email is nice, but I want all of the other goodies! After searching the key Palm sites, I have been able to find color versions of my favorite games and a few new ones, as well as plenty of other goodies which I can load up. It still works with my portable keyboard and holds a charge for taking notes all day. The only thing I'm missing now is a modem so I can do Email too!
