Review: by Jameela

There is a large wild animal loose, prowling the night streets of Chicago's Hyde Park Neighborhood. Lynda Malone, a junior at the University Of Chicago Laboratory High School, believes she has seen one in the bushes by the school. No one believes her, no one except Greg Ursek, the new kid in the neighborhood.

Lynda is surprised that Greg seems to be interested in her; usually her best friend Ellen gets the guys. She is drawn to Greg because he seems to believe in her. The fact that he has a smile that transforms him into something wonderful and old-fashion manners just add to her attraction for him. But as their friendship grows and becomes more, she discovers Greg's family has a secret that could cause serious problems if it were to get out. It seems that Greg is not completely human. Is it possible Greg is the "wild animal" that is roaming the streets at night?

Carrie Masek does a wonderful job with Under a Bear Moon. I thoroughly enjoyed reading about Lynda and Greg. Carrie Masek has captured the essence of what teenagers have to go thru in school, relationships and life in general. Also what it might be like for a wereanimal trying to live a "normal" life as a teenager, and dealing with finding love. I currently have my daughter reading it now and she is also enjoying it. I highly recommend this book; it is a very enjoyable read.
