Summary: Intimidating
Review: After reading all the great reviews about this book I ordered it to begin preparing for the quantitaive section of the GRE's but I was in for a nasty shock after opening the first chapter! This book might be concise and well written however it's only for the well versed in math and not those who did the bare minimum since college or high school. This prep book assumes you know all the basics and takes off from there, however going through this book for someone like me is like studying latin, it makes no sense! Do yourself a favor start out with a book that prepares you from the BASICS and use this once you're thorough with your fundamentals, it'll save you time, money and a lot of anxeity.

Summary: very good prep book
Review: I took the GRE math subject with this book as my only preparation. It prepared me well.

The book provides many examples. I recommend working through them, and comparing your answers with provided solutions. The book is short enough that you can work through it in a week, but comprehensive that it covers just about all the topics you will see on the Math subject test. It was in fact a good experience for me to review all the things I learned in college, and saw that there are a couple big themes and they all fit nicely together.

The book contains a few typos. Also, I didn't see any questions on the actual test from the topics covered in the last chapter (additional topics). But that could just be my particular test.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Excellent Preparation for the Subject GRE
Review: I'm going to take the GRE Subject Math in a few weeks and I've been preparing for it about one month. I've found this book to be very good at reviewing and explaining every topic. Sometimes I wish that it had more practice questions for every section. There are some typos in the book but not too many.
Please do not be mistake the GRE Subject Math exam with the Quantitative section of the GRE General exam. This book will not help you for that purpose.

Summary: There is another BETTER!
Review: IF YOU WANT REAL SAMPLES, try Author Bramson, Morris.
Title Mathematics : subject test (advanced) / by Morris Bramson.
Publ/date New York : Arco Pub., c1983.
THis is the most comprehensive collection of samples of GRE MATH SUBJECT TESTS that I've found to be extremely useful, most approximate to the real tests! You will see! Just wonder why they are not publishing it anymore!

BUT IF YOU ARE AIMING FOR THE GRE GENERAL MATH, TRY Mathematics: Graduate Record Examination Series (Gre) (Graduate Record Examination Series, Gre-12)
by Jack Rudman
ISBN: 0837352126

I STUDIED OTHER BOOKS LIKE THE PRINCETON REVIEW BEFORE THIS ONE, 690 FOR THE FIRST TEST. AFTER DOING THE VERY REAL SAMPLE TESTS, I TOOK THE GRE AGAIN THIS MONTH NOV. AND GOT 790. I WOULD LIKE TO HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK FOR THOSE WHO ARE PREPARING FOR THE GRE MATH TEST!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Good, but not enough.
Review: It a good book. It covers almost all topics from GRE Subject Test. But it has a lot of missprints and mistakes. So, you have to be very carefull while reading it.

The level of the real GRE Subject Test is very close to the level of the test in this book. And the tests published by ETS are much easier then the actual test.

This book alone is not enough if you wanna let more then 60% of people below you.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: very helpful
Review: Personally, I find all the books written by Steven Leduc extremely helpful. This book is not an exception. The topics are smoothly presented, and practice problems are very helpful. The candidate (for Math GRE, that is) will still need to get more practice in his/her weak areas even after reading this book. While this book is a great help, it should not be the only book used for GRE test preparation.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A very good refresher
Review: This is a very concise review of all the basic stuff you might learn as an undergraduate math major. The review of calculus is especially helpful, but not overbearing or overly detailed. Leduc gives simple and short explanations and jumps right into solving problems -- just what you need to know for the test and just enough to jump-start those old freshman year memories of intro calculus.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Before you leave a review - please note!
Review: This is NOT a book about the quantitative section of the general GRE! It is a book for those taking the MATH SUBJECT TEST for the GRE. Leaving a bad score for this book because you are confused about this issue is not fair to the author/publisher of this book.
