Rating: Summary: BLACKWATER Review: BlackWaterWhen you start reading "Blackwater" by Eve Bunting, you will be hooked to it instantly. This book as all the elements of a story you could ask for in a book: suspense, mystery, and love & family. This book has something for everybody. Brodie is a teenager that has to spend time with his little cousin during the summer. And his cousin, Alex, isn't the easiest person to get close to. And he is very sneaky and likes to get in trouble and he thinks he is in a "gang" back at home, and he tries to be what he is at home. He wants to "fit in". Brodie is a very curious person, and isn't afraid to take challenges and risks, and he doesn't think before he acts sometimes. His life is close to perfect, and all that will flip upside down. Brodie gets a one in a lifetime date with his crush, and he is looking forward to it. But one day, he goes to take a swim, and finds his "date" fooling around with another guy, Gordon. Brodie gets really jealous and angry, and swims over to the large rock and trips them both of the large boulder. But Brodie doesn't know what he has gotten himself into. They fall down, trough the raging river, and Brodie suddenly realized what he did. And he swims and tries to save them, but he can't, and then the police come and then they pull him out, claiming that he was trying to save them both. They aren't heard from in one day. A couple days later, the police find a dead body of the girl. Brodie had killed her. But he does not know where Gordon is... Brodie is scared. He becomes paranoid that Gordon will come back and reveal what Brodie really did, or even kill him. Alex and Brodie have to find out where Gordon is, before it's too late. They get secret letters from someone that is threatening. Brodie better hurry. The mystery and suspense is just warming up. In the course of the story, Brodie gets help from family, and friends, and then he learns what he should do. Brodie starts seeing (or thinks he sees) images of Gordon, and he doesn't know what to do. Brodie is starting to feel guilty, and the only way to fix this is to confess. He must do something before his conscience eats him alive. What would you do, if u had to face the consequences of the Blackwater?
Rating: Summary: BLACK WATER Review: Casey Parker Period 1 Book Review Black Water Have you ever had a best friend who died and the death of that friend changed your life? Black Water is a river I called the "Death River."I think this book is good for both parents and kids because the character faces a lot of problems in life: asking a girl out, dealing with his cousin, and murder. Brodie Lynch is a plain thirteen year old boy with a lot of caring people in his life. For example, his grandmother gave him four movie passes. "My grandma sent me a pass for the Cineplex for two people for four times," Brodie told Pauline. "Cool! Ok. I like movies." It seems that Brodie liked Pauline a lot. He would do anything to make Pauline be his girlfriend. Another character that Brodie has to deal with is his cousin named Alex who is twelve. Alex is a bad boy that will say stuff to get himself out of trouble. "I'm going to teach you to swim," Brodie said. "We're going to the river." It is kind of nice for Brodie to teach his little cousin Alex to swim. In the long run, Alex will repay Brodie back. This will happen sooner than later. When Brodie and his cousin Alex went to the Black Water (Death River), Brodie sees Pauline with Otis. "She's such a babe," said Alex. "How would you know? You can hardly see her," Brodie said to Alex. Alex whined, "Quit pushing, I was just giving you an opinion." "Well, don't," Brodie said in an angry way. Brodie gathered up Otis and Pauline's stuff and hid it somewhere. Brodie went into the water and went straight for Pauline and Otis. Brodie grabbed Pauline's leg and Otis grabbed Pauline's arm. The two boys were both pulling on Pauline. She screamed, "Let go!" Brodie let Pauline's leg go and Pauline and Otis fell back killing themselves. I think that the life lesson of "Black Water" is if you like somebody and they don't like you back or is with another person, you should just move on to someone else. You shouldn't get jealous or turn to violence. In the end, the author leaves you with a lot of questions. One such question was, should Brodie go to jail for killing Pauline and Otis? Go pick up the book and you'll see what I'm talking about. The life lesson of this book is if you like somebody so much and one day you see that person you like with somebody you is not like you. Don't get all jealous and kill them like Brodie killed Otis and Pauline because you will in up in jail. "WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND." Letting that person you love go his or her on way is better than killing the love of your heart and the person with the love of your heart.
Rating: Summary: Blackwater Review: Welcome to Black Water a town that everyone is in danger. I this small town there's a river that runs through it. Three kids liked in this town Pauline, Otis, and Brodie. One day Brodie found Pauline and Otis were kissing near the river. Brodie got upset about them kissing because he liked Pauline and he thought that Pauline liked him. Brodie decided to play a joke on them but the joke turned bad. I liked this book because it had a lot of action like when Pauline and Otis fell into the river and everyone was running around looking for them. The author really described things like flowers and stuff like that beautify. When I read thins book I got a real visual of what was happing. In this book I was really surprised when Brodie jumped into the river to find them. I would recommend this book for fifth graders. I think that anyone who read this book above fifth grade would get board. They would like this book because of the reading level and the action.
