Rating: Summary: Pretty Good Review: Love and Sk8 is a book about an 18 year old girl, named Angie who lives in a small town in PA. She is a total skater chick, but falls for one of the prep guys, who's grandfather owns the mill that her parents work at. Her friends don't approve of their relationship, and neither do his, but they ignore them and don't seem to care. That is, until Carter's grandfather, Carter Sr. confronts him and tells him that if he doesn't stop seeing Angie, that he will cut him off from his millions. Then, the makeshift skate park on the lot next to the mill mysteriously sets fire. And when Angie tries to stick up 4 her friends, saying that they didn't start the fire, they begin to suspect that she started the fire. She gets accepted into the Philly Art Institute, but they withdraw her acceptance until she is cleared of the case. Then, her boss persuades Carter to tell the authorities where Angie really was the night of the fire, and when he does, his grandfather really does cut him off from his millions. This is a good book for middle schoolers, but if you are any older than that, you will probably find this book 2 b a bit juvenile, pointless and airy.
Rating: Summary: Nice Read Review: This is a pretty good book about a skater girl who loves art and meets a prep guy. Inspite of their differences and against practically the whole town's wishes, they fall in love and struggle to keep their relationship together. I think it was pretty good but seemed to be for the junior highschoolers.
Rating: Summary: sk8 not that gr8 Review: this was a fairly good book. Angie is a skater girl stuck in a dead end town. She is way talented at art, and has big plans to get out into the world. Her town is strictly divided between the skaters and the preppies. Angie hates the preppies (as do all skaters) until she meets Carter. Its hate at first sight when Carter tries to help Angie out by loaning her a few bucks to buy an art supply she needs. Instead of thanking him, Angie is furious and accuses him of flaunting his wealth to her. Carter, however, pursues her. Angie does everything she can to derail him, including setting up a "date" at a total skater restaraunt she thinks he won't dare show his face in. He shows up, though, and Angie finds herself falling for him. After mutual condescension from their own sects of friends, they decide to keep their relationship secret. The powers that be won't leave them alone, though, and do everything possible to rip them apart. I didn't like this book because it makes such a big deal about how much they love each other, and will never give each other up or betray each other, and then they allow their relationship to be ripped apart so easily. It is an ok read.
