Summary: ---------------------------> A Totally Great Book!
Review:
Sloppy Firsts is a great novel which I enjoyed reading very much. The narrator is Jessica Darling, a high schooler, who goes through many experiences and learns a lot along the way. What is Jessica to do when her best friend has just moved away, her dad obsesses over her high school track career, and her mom is too involved with her older sister's wedding to help her other daughter? Jessica must learn how to deal with all these things while tackling other problems which come her way, including her shallow friends, her relationship with one of her guy friends, and bad boy Marcus.
I found that Sloppy Firsts told everything like it is. It reminded me of all of the problems that normal teens go through everyday. Jessica's experiences with friends, boys, and parents really sounded like an account of any teenage girl living in America today. It also dealt with many different issues at once, so that every part of the book was interesting. I couldn't stop reading it. There were so many situations where you wished something would happen and you had to keep reading to see what actually WOULD happen. In fact, I tried to put a limit on what I could read every day (needless to say, it didn't work because I finished the book in 2 days). I just found the whole book very interesting, and thought that the way it was told was very funny. I loved how Jessica was so sarcastic and comical with the way she described everything. Sloppy Firsts is a great book! Thanks also to the reviewer who recommended The Losers Club by Richard Perez, another FUN book I loved.

Summary: Sloppy First Best Book Review
Review: I just finished reading Sloppy Firsts. It is 11:30 right now. I usual go to bed at ten, but I just had to finish the book. I myself being almost 15 can relate somewhat to the novel, but it was so entertaining. I havn't read a book outside of school since the sixth grade and this book was definetly the best I can ever imagine reading. The characters are so real and if your one of those people that really gets into books then you will be laughing, crying, and biting your lip most of the time.
Believe it or not the book tells it like it is and portrays highschool just as many students see it. It's light reading that can wiz be, even though it's length is nearly 300 pages. It's about this girl, a Sophomore in High School, and her best friend Hope moves away after her brother died of a drug overdose. Jess goes through school with these prissy girls who arn't really her friends.
She is the classic honors student that is athlectic. In her case she does track. Her father in hounding her about practice. Her mother wants to get in touch with her, since Jess's older sister is moving out and getting married. The is the classic bad boy Marcus Flutie who plays out to be one of my favorite characters. All in all the characters and plot were great and it was a great book.
The ages for this book would probably be at the highschool level or up, because of sexual terms, drug references, and such innuendo.

Summary: Light Fun With Some Good Lessons
Review: "Sloppy Firsts" is a light, fun book about some common issues that teen girls face. Filled with fun references to a lot of pop culture, this novel centers on Jessica Darling and her high school exploits. Jessica is trying to find her identity while dealing with the pressures of popularity, boys, and coping with the loss of her best friend Hope, who has moved away. Take a peek into Jessica's journal and share her ups and downs. Not too deep, but fun and entertaining.

Summary: A great mix of Adult Style with Realistic Teendom :)
Review: Megan McCafferty's novel about 16 year old Jessica Darling is one just about every girl can relate to in some way. From the dreams of finding that rare true guy friend (been there!), to the agony of not living up to your parents expectations (yep), unrequited love and unwanted love (yessum), to losing and finding your friends (for sure), this book covers a lot of topics that are just downright normal...but are made incredibly interesting through a variety of humorous situations and intelligent narration by Jessica via her personal journal. McCafferty's book doesn't after-school special teenage-hood, or make it uber boring, or super unbelievable, instead it makes you find the qualities most angsty teenagers have in themselves that relate to Jessica Darling, and draws you in as you look at your own experiences and compare them to Jessica's. (I'm 17 so I can definately relate!). A great effort, I can't wait to read the second book!

Summary: A novel that lets you remember growing up
Review: Megan Mccafferty's Sloppy Firsts is a terrific novel that lets you remember the days of highschool and growing up. Jessica Darling is character who has just lost her bestfriend Hope and is forced to face highschool with friends who she believes are not her real friends at all. She does not start to break out of her egg shell until the help of Marcus Flutie, a so called "dreg" who is mysterious actions help arise curiousity within Jessica and forces her to face her mixed up feelings while he slowly works his way into her heart. This novel is great for even adults cause it helps remember the days of highschool and for those still experiencing it!

There aren't too many bad things about Sloppy Firsts. But if it's anywhere near the caliber of this novel, I'd say it's worth it. Another book I loved: The Losers Club by Richard Perez

Summary: An excellent book with an excellent sequel!
Review: This book is not complete without the sequel, Second Helpings. Plan to read both, and you will enjoy the story better. This story and its sequel are so romantic. Thats all I can say. It is REALLY good. I always wondered why everyone put this book and its sequel on their list of favorites. Now I know why! They are nice and thick and big, more to them than I expected. I am sure that any teenage girl would enjoy these books. Don't just check this out from the library-go buy it now! Totally worth it!

Summary: I LOVE Jessica Darling
Review: This book is something every single teenage girl should read, because I know it was like reading a page from my diary.
Jessica Darling is the most relateable, witty character I have ever read. I love everything about this book, The Clueless Crew, Marcus Flutie(love him!), the psychotic teachers and Jessica's boredom with suburban life- I can relate to all of it.
I can't recommend this book more, this is second behind the bible to me in favorite books, I can't recommend it more then that.
Marcus Flutie, Jessica Darling, even Hope leap off the page and become a living, breathing person that I know so well. I have never read a book with a truer voice then Jessica's. I found myself salivating over Paul Parlipiano with her, hating motormouth Sara and sleazy Manda, and falling head over heels for Marcus Flutie. I am truly passionate about this book(If you haven't noticed all ready) and highly recommend this book to you, I've lent it to about 6 friends and have hooked them all, because Jessica Darling is a voice in modern-day literature that will last and last...
