Rating: 5 stars
Summary: This book is a winner!
Review: Sally Chambers is a new YA novelist and "Silent Night--Wicked Night" will surely earn her a place among the well-respected YA authors. She has thoroughly researched the Brazilian rainforest setting for this novel and has masterfully woven a tale of tragedy and intrigue into a mystery only God could help untangle. She wrote it for young adults, but I would recommend it for all adults. You will not want to put it down!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: An exciting young adult novel
Review: SILENT NIGHT, WICKED NIGHT is a young adult novel with well-rounded characters, a suspenseful plot and lots of emotion. After Vangie witnesses her mother's accidental death, she is filled with guilt and grief. Her father soon sells their ranch and moves to Brazil to research a rain forest plant used in making a cancer-fighting drug.

Some strange occurences before and during their trip makes Vangie nervous, but she brushes off her feelings. Her new friend Kaleigh, whose parents are missionaries, helps Vangie adjust to life in a foreign country and, more importantly, shares her faith.

Vangie is a character teens will identify with and admire for her courage and ingenuity. It is obvious that the author knows teens-how they think and act-and her characters are well developed and compelling. I highly recommend this book and will be on the lookout for more titles from Sally Chambers.
