Summary: Seth of the Lion People
Review: Crippled at a young age, Seth is the outcast of his tribe, the Lion People, a group of rough and tumble cavemen living in a sheltered cave near a supposedly dormant volcano. Since the leader, Grunn, does not appreciate Seth his father trains him to be the Teller-of-Stories. Ultimately, this job is a revered position because the Teller-of-Stories mentally records, then dictates the tribe's history and legends. By having a necessary and protected position, Grunn can't force Seth to leave. However, Seth is almost friendless. Esu, another boy from the tribe and is Seth's age, and Esu's parents are the only people who accept Seth as he is.

Seth's father dies. Taking advantage of this, Grunn and his son Nar try to wheedle Seth out. Unfortunately for them, Seth is protected by Esu's family. Nar eventually goes over the edge and attempts to take Seth's life. Warned by a girl from the tribe, Seth manages to evade an untimely death. The motivation, which was behind Nar's actions? Although Seth saved his life by killing a wild boar, Nar resents him for not allowing himself to profess his bravery as a man. When Esu sees his friend's life is in dire danger, he suggests they both leave the tribe and explore the world beyond. Seth agrees and they leave that night. In their travels, they meet the Goat People and spend the winter with them. From them Seth and Esu learn many things that may benefit the Lion People, such as harboring domestic animals for when hunting is scarce.

...

Seth of the Lion People was easy to read and boring. The characters, with the exception of Seth, were flat and monotonous, with no surprises. Even with the monotony, the book offers insight into the caveman lifestyle. A younger audience would find the style of the book enjoyable, and the content challenging, but an older audience would find this book too easy although a bit informative. Overall, middle elementary students best enjoy this book.

Summary: Excellent book. Could not put it down
Review: I think this book is great! It's about a heroic boy named Seth. This booked showed me that a person with a broken leg or arm, can save an entire village. I learned a lot. When I had to stop reading, I couldn't because it was so good. If I could I would give it more than five stars.
