Summary: The Same as All the Others
Review: I am currently a junior in high school and took the ACT's without any prep work. I was dissapointed with my first score and purchased this book which has increased my score six points!

This book worked great for me, plus I still have a whole year left to take it again to improve my score even more!

If you are an average student willing to spend time reading and studying I highly suggest this book. I have tried many books, and I prefer this style the most even over CD-Rom's ( I would hate staring at this screen for hours! ).

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Good book that teach you test-taking tips.
Review: I took my first ACT as a junior last spring and satisfied in the results. My idea about standarized test is that you can't really study, but to learn test-taking tips and work hard at school (I got 35 on Math; I didn't study at all on math). This book teaches you the tips & and it's not lengthy and freaky-looking like Barron's. Also, English review in the Appendix is very helpful; I read that section over right before test and I think it helped me do well in English section (I'm an ESL student.)
Now I'm actaully going to go through this book and take ACT again in september; If you're taking ACT, get this book.

Review: Kaplan's ACT book is right on the money. It told me everything I needed to know. And more importantly, it didn't waste my time telling me stuff I didn't need to know. I took the ACT as a freshman and scored a 28. But, with two years of schooling and a few hours with Kaplan's guide, I improved to a 34.

Now, just how useful Kaplan was for me remains debatable, but I'm confident that it made a difference. I especially loved its sneaky math strategies. For instance, most diagrams are drawn to scale, so, when you have to guess, you can "eyeball" and weed out some of the bad answers. The reading tips were also very helpful. I was a little slow and Kaplan showed me how to be more efficient, thus finishing without being in a panicked rush.

Kaplan's is the finest ACT book I've seen. So, if you want to get a few more points, go Kaplan.

Review: This book was very factual and introduced me to the testing material well, but it seems just the same as all the other testing aides and books. What I did I like was the CD Rom program that I used before I read some of the book, and then tested myself again after I reviewed the book to see my progress - Now I hope I just did as well on the real thing!
