Summary: Engrossing
Review: Eighteen-year-old Zoey Appleton is still haunted by the deaths of her beloved Doctor parents who were killed in the Oklahoma City Bombing. Tristan March, also eighteen, is trying to adjust to learning the news about his best friend's brain tumor. Zoey and Tristan, along with cut-throat Summer, love-struck Chad, and fast-talking Becky, have been chosen to be a part of the SCRUBS pre, pre-med program taking place at Fable Harbor University Hospital, located on the Massachusetts Coast. These five Doctors-to-be will work together, while at the same time compete against each other for a $25,000 scholarship. But romance and love just might step into the picture before the summer is over.

I recently found the first three books in the UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL series in a used bookstore, and knew that I absolutely had to have them when I found that they were a) written by Cherie Bennett and Jeff Gottesfeld, and b) were about teens working at a hospital. I was not at all disappointed by UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL, the first book in the series. The characters are exciting, and quite witty, and the situations that they are placed in on a daily basis are entertaining. From the very first page to the very last I was absolutely engrossed in the book, and was unable to put it down. And the cliffhanger ending made me itch for the sequel CONDITION CRITICAL. A must-read for all fans of a good teen medical-thriller/soap opera.

Summary: not worth the time
Review: I am usually interested in medical drama, but I almost gave up on this book after the first few pages. The language was choppy and stilted. It was supposed to appeal to teenagers, but I am a teenager, and it just sounded fake. I don't think anyone actually talks like that unless they are in Beverly Hills or on TV. It was a soap opera in book form. Just the names of the characters would tell you that -- Zoey, Tristan, Summer... The plot was choppy and I didn't feel like the characters were developed enough to feel any connection with them. There also wasn't very much actual medical drama...the book focused more on the interaction between the SCRUBS and the mean doctors. Finally, the ending was pure gimmick, and while it was a cliff-hanger, it didn't make me want to read the next book.

Summary: One of the best books I've ever read
Review: I have read a few of Cherie Bennett's books, and then one Trash book by Bennett and Gottesfeld, but so far, I have to say this is the best of the books by these two great authors that I have read so far. I have yet to read the rest of the books in the University Hospital series, and believe me, I WILL read every single one of them!

Summary: Cherie Bennett usually does MUCH better than this!
Review: I'm already hooked. This series so far has been so interesting and fun to read that I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of the fourth book (as I have already read and re-read the first three several times.) I love the interaction between Tristan and Zoey as they battle their growing feelings for each other and try to get over past experiences in their lives that leave emotional scars of insecurity on them today. But what intrigues me the most is their tough outward appearances that keep them from getting too close to each other, and at the same time, keep the readers entertained by their sarcastic comments to each other. Bennett has once again created a fabulous cast of characters. I highly recommend this series.
