Rating: Summary: Prehistoric Trauma Review: Trhilling. This is the only word to describe a book as well written as Michael Chrichton's best selling Jurassic Park. Its fascinating topics and realism keep the readers at the edge of their seats. Jurassic Park is a convincingly detailed and highly entertaining novel. The plot in this story is extremely suspenseful and intriguing. Throughout the entire book the author's writing style makes the reader want to continue reading. For example, a suspenseful event is when the tyrannosaur breaks through the electric fence (186). After reading this conflict, it causes the reader to desire to read until the outcome of this event. In addition to the suspence in the story, the information is so realistic that it makes the reader actually feel like the events are happening around them. For instance, the author describes the features of a velociraptor when Alexis and Tim are encountered by one (330). The description of this prehisotric animal is so accurate that the reader can picture a clear image of a velociraptor in their head. The plot of Jurassic Park keeps the reader interested and eager to learn the future events in the story. I enjoyed this book because the main ideas are interesting. All of the topics kept me willing and wanting to read more. For example, the fact that John Hammond had "discovered a way to clone dinosaurs"(79) caused me to read more of the story. I kept reading because I wanted to find out how John Hammond had recreated these magnificent creatures.. Realism is also a strong part of this story. For instance, a realistic event is when the power fails in the park (174). This is an important part of the story because and event ike this often happens in people's every day lives, so the reader can relate to this event in the story. The interesting main ideas helped make this story a success. Jurassic Park became a best selling novel due to its suspenseful plot, interesting topics, and realism. Because of all these characteristics, I guarantee that any reader would enjoy this story. Overall, this novel is a great addition to all reader's collections.
