Rating: Summary: Fun, original fairy tale Review: Alexandria is an orphaned goose girl, living quietly with her flock of 12 geese. One day, an old woman asks for some food and, poof, Alexandria is suddenly "as lovely as the dawn" with diamonds for tears and gold for dandruff. She attracks the attention of the local prince (a rather dull fellow with little in his head but her beauty) and a neighboring king (for an idea of him, the opening line "The king killed my canary today" should tell you all you need to know), who promptly lock her in a tower when she refuses to marry either of them. With the help of her dedicated flock, she escapes. And that's just the first three chapters!
Original story, well written characters, fun for all to be had!
Rating: Summary: A charming fantasy novel. Review: Ever since her mother's death five years ago, Alexandria Aurora Fortunato has lived in a small cottage and tended the geese her family has always owned. Now fifteen, Alexandria would be happy enough to continue living her simple life. But everything changes on the day Alexandria is kind enough to feed a beggar, who rewards Alexandria with three gifts - to be as lovely as the dawn, to have tears that turn to diamonds, and to have gold dust fall from her hair. At first, Alexandria tries to continue on with her normal life, but it soon becomes clear that isn't possible. Two powerful men want her hand in marriage - the despicable King Claudio the Cruel and his rival, the dimwitted Prince Edmund. For her safety, Prince Edmund forces Alexandria to live in a tower. With the help of her faithful geese, Alexandria escapes, but soon she is forced to team up with Prince Edmund. Along their journey, they face many perils, and Alexandria discovers her secret heritage. This was a wonderful, lighthearted fantasy with a fairy-tale plot. Alexandria was an entertaining, funny narrator. I highly reccomend this book.
Rating: Summary: Very amusing, of the same quality as Woman in the Wall. Review: I loved this book. Although very different from The Woman in the Wall, it was just as excellent. The characters were great, although it did seem a little too convenient at times, how everything always went just the way it should to break the enchantment. I know, you can shrug it off on the fairy godmother, but I really rather disapprove of that. But otherwise I loved the book. I wish there was a sequel. I love sequels.

Patrice Kindl is an amazing author and does a great job of making cliff hangers. Once you start this book you will never want to put it down! Goose Chase is an Awesome book and I promise you that you will enjoy it.

Rating: Summary: I LUV IT! I LUV IT! I LUV IT! Get the picture? Review: One of the funniest and wittiest fairytales I've read all year. And it's original to boot.Okay, we have a young goosegirl. She's rather plain, she's not overly fond of bathing or combing her hair, she's poor, alone in the world, and so on...a common peasant. When she shows kindness to a hideous old hag (who happens to be her fairy godmother and who, it may surprise you to know, is not in disguise) she is transformed into a glorious beauty who cries diamonds and brushes gold dust from her hair. And now we have a goosegirl who is not only beautiful, but filthy rich...and pursued by a prince and a king. But when the goosegirl, Alexandria, refuses to marry either of her suitors, her gift becomes a living nightmare as they lock her in a tower and vow to keep her prisoner until she chooses one of them. Hmmm. Bachelor number one is a cruel king who rules his country with an iron fist and a cold heart. He has had two other wives who have both died of mysterious causes. He enjoys polishing his weapons and killing small animals. Bachelor number two is a handsome young prince with no intelligence, wit, or conversation. Actually, he is as dumb as mud and, if he is chosen, he will probably be assinated by his rival. As you can see, it will not be an easy choice for our fair goosegirl. What it will be is a romp through the lands of fairy with a brief nod to several beloved fairytales (Rapunzal, Cinderella, and lots more) that just might end with happily ever after...and true love.
Rating: Summary: a wild goose chase Review: So, there's this girl, or goosegirl. She has 12 geese and her name is Alexandria Aurora Fortunato. And she shared her lunch with a old beggar woman. So now she's prettier than the dawn, cries diamonds, and has "24-carat-gold dandruff." Her hair is also enchanted and becomes whatever length she wants it to be. You would think these gifts are a blessing but to her, they're a heavy burden. Because of these gifts, King Claudio the Cruel and his rival Prince Edmund of Dorloo want to marry her for her beauty and riches. So they lock her up in a tower with a grille of iron bars and several hundred tons of stone between her and freedon until she chooses one of them to wed. And to think, all this goosegirl wants to do is stay in her cottage with her geese.
Still, she escapes and... her adventure begins. When she returns to her cottage, she discovers 3 unepected guest. Carnivorous guests to be exact.
Again and again she is caught. And again and again she escapes. In all this, her geese play a surprising role during this wild goose chase.
Rating: Summary: Great Fun!! Review: The story of a goose girl who seems to be living in a fairy tale. An old hag gives her special gifts of great beauty, bewitched hair, and the ability to cry diamonds. All this wealth attracts a cruel King and a young Prince who seems to be a little simple. She has to come up with a way to hold off the two suitors, and plan an escape from her tower. Her geese help her escape the tower, but then she gets caught by three ogresses. The Prince comes after her, gets caught too, so together they have to save each other. Together they go from peril to peril. It is fun to pick out all the plot twists based on familiar old fairy tales. Even the geese are enchanted. I got so involved with the great characters that I didn't want the story to end.
Rating: Summary: Goose Chase - review Review: This book is a fairy tale about a goose girl who gets a magical gift from an old woman. Whenever the goose cries, her tears turn into diamonds and whenever she brushes her hair, gold dust floats to the floor. Her hair is also enchanted, it grows longer or shorter when she asks it to. Althougth the gift might seem great, the goose girl hates it. She wants to stay in her cottage with her her geese, but a prince and an evil king both want to marry her. The prince even locks her in a tower. Most of the book is about what hjappens after her geese help her escape from the tower. The book is a lot like "Ella Enchanted." In both books the main characters have dead mothers and are given gifts that they don't like. This book also combines a lot of fairy tales, like "Hansel and Gretel," because the goose girl and the prince get captured by ogresses who want to eat them. The goose girl saves the prince by telling the ogresses to wait and fatten him up. "Goose Chase" is also like "Rapunzel," because the goose girl uses her hair to escape from a tower and it's like "The Wild Swans" because in the end the geese trun back into humans. I enjoyed the book because the goose girl has a lot of adventures and it is very suspenseful, whenever you finish a chapter something is about to happen, so you always want to keep reading. I liked the goose girl better when she was poor than when she was rich and ungrateful. At the end of the book, when she finally gets to see her sisters in human form she is annoyed by them and wants to go back to living alone. If my sisters were wild geese, I would want to live with them forever.
Rating: Summary: A great story for every one Review: This is an amazing book, which reveals something I've always suspected--that being rich and beautiful is not all it's cracked up to be!
The storyline has all the elements of a classic fairytale--and yet it manages to turn many of them on their ear, giving us a totally fresh perspective.
Alexandria, the heroine, is a smart, spunky and sassy girl who rises above her harsh circumstances with courageous flair. Her geese, too, are also endearingly resourceful, and both her companions and her foes are intriguing to say the least.
All of the characters in this book, even the minor ones, are well written, as is the dialogue. This was a joy to read, and I would recommend it highly to anyone of any age with even a modicum of a sense of humour. I look forward to reading more of the award-winning Ms Kindl's novels!
