Summary: Wonderful.
Review: I believe the word used was sundown over at ...... but this is clearly the dawn of a new day. This book tells of an incredible journey for one girl. I've made sure to give the title to every woman I know, because each and every one of them can relate to Lera in some way.

I hope to read more by Ms. Romey in the very near future and wish her the best of luck in her writings.

Summary: Putting girls into the landscape of fantasy
Review: I loved this book! I love the way it not only deals with the obvious prejudices of class and gender (rare enough in itself), but also subtler ones like the willingness of the average to bring down the smarter ones among us, especially if they're different. Also the absolute refusal to take the usual route of demonising the 'bad guy'. Much like Rowling, she has a hero who could have been a villain if things had gone differently, but instead of staying with the differences and blaming them on the villain's personal choices, she looks at the similarities and how circumstances conspired to prevent them turning out the same. But don't think this is Atlas Shrugged for kids - at heart it's just a really good story with lots of levels and food for thought. Buy it for your kids now. Or if you don't have them, just buy it for yourself.

Summary: "Riley" bad
Review: If you like stories without any plot and reading the thoughts and doubts of the characters repeated over and over again you will propably love this novel.
If you liked the Harry Potter books you will find this one disappointing!
I am sorry to say it: Pawn to Queen was MUCH better!

Summary: Complete Harry Potter rip-off.
Review: If you've ever heard of Mary Sues on fanfiction.net, this one tops them all. The author of this book is the same who wrote a really terrible Harry Potter fanfiction. Seems she loves ripping of JK Rowling's plotlines. This was a horrible attempt at original fiction because, let's face it, this was not original in the least.

Summary: Boring
Review: Nothing special, boring prose, cliched characters. Not worth the time unless you want the literary equivilent of cold porridge.

Summary: GREAT-exciting-fast paced-multilayered
Review: Published in Scholastic in May 1992 as a prize winning short story, the author has created an exciting, multilayered world full of magic, dragons, and believable characters [ both the main and supporting ]struggling and succeeding against mediocrity, intolerance and jealously. Lear and her mentors [ human and dragon] provide some answers and solutions to those who fight for excellence and responsibility. Whenever I reread this book I find addtional layers of complexity and insight on top of a superbly written story. It is joy to read and reread. I can not wait for more.

Summary: w00t!
Review: Tamora Pierce with a better vocabulary. CJ Cherryh for wee(er) ones. Either way, I absolutely adored Lera of Tymoria, and I think it's definitely a fantastic book for younger readers looking for more of a challenge. There's been a dearth of well-written children's literature with strong, gifted female characters lately, and Lera certainly fills _that_ gap adequately. I'd definitely recommend it to late-elementary to early-middle school kids, and of course grown-ups will enjoy too. ;)
