Rating: Summary: Read my Review Review: "Senioritis" is the type of book that anyone can relate to; the main characters differ so much that I know there is one you can relate to. Anyone in high school can tell you that this is the type of thing that really goes on and the teenagers in the book give believeable responses to the conflicts that arise. Tate Thompson is a keen observer of this generation and offers his expertise on how to survive until graduation and afterward. We look forward to any new publishings he may produce.

Rating: Summary: Easy reading for high-schoolers Review: As a young adult looking for an edgy book to read, a friend of mine directed me to this book. The first thing that came to my mind was, "Why do I want to read about a group of misfit seniors and their problems." But as I got more into it I found that it was more than just a group of kids taliking about their problems, and more of a coming of age story about young kids trying to find their way in to reality.
Rating: Summary: Great Review: Being in Mr. Thompson's class last year when he first started publishing this book, I really enjoyed reading it before it came out. This book shares a lot of feelings that teens go through and it's an enjoyable one at that. Many students look up to teachers that acually know what teens go through and I thought that reading this book will let many people see that some acually care. I hope that everyone will get a chance at some point to see what a diverse high school goes through. Many people dont get the chance to expierence what Juction City has, so reading it was a pleasure!!
Rating: Summary: It Wuz Off the Hizzle Review: Even when I first started the book I could tell that I was going to enjoy this. Being a high school student I meet these type of characters everyday. It was amazing how insightful the writing was and the depth he used for each of the students. I applaud him for using the slang and realized how rediculous we sound but so very amused. I believe anyone who has question on today's youth should read this book and any parent who seem to have a language barrier with their child.
Rating: Summary: Unrealistic and unworthy Review: I am an urban high school teacher. I ordered this book hoping it was something I could use in my classes. Writing from students' points of view is a good concept, but the content is unrealistic. The students in the after school program seemed to have nothing to do in class except bond, write in journals, and be amazed at how cool their teacher is. There are always popular teachers and then there are well-respected teachers. The teacher in the novel seems more concerned about being liked than about being a good teacher. This is a problem with some younger teachers, and that is the impression I formed about the teacher in the novel. Since I wanted to know what my students thought, I gave the book to some of them to read. They also agreed that the book was unrealistic. Moreover, they said the book doesn't try to impart any learning/wisdom about life's lessons to them like other works of young adult fiction. Overall, I was disappointed with the novel and its representation of the urban high school and its students.
Rating: Summary: Reader Review for Senioritis Review: Senioritis is a book that is meant to appeal to many different personalities. There is a character for every reader to find some sort of connection with.
Senioritis is an attempt to bring more multicultural characters to the Young Adult book forefront. I think the book does a good job of creating a landscape of familiarity for the reader to begin to understand and empathize with the created characters.
If a reader of this book is not familiar with all of the different kinds of personalities, cultures, and various interests that go beyond stereotypes, this book may very well be an important eye-opener.
Many adults who are out of touch with teens will find this book offensive as it is pro-teens and anti-bitter adults. Also, many adults will not want to work their way through the slang that some of the characters use. That's okay because this book is meant for TEENS and open-minded adults who have an interest in teens in their lives and in our society in general.
I hope this book is examined by many and enjoyed by most.
The Missouri Library Association has named Senioritis as one of its "Best of the Best" for 2003!

Rating: Summary: Senioritis Review: Senioritis is a wonderful read. It has characters that will find their way into your heart. You will feel what the characters feel and will most likely identify with at least one of the characters in the book. It was sad, funny, and made me think back to when I was a senior in high school and the relationships I had back then. If you want a book that will toy with your emotions and is a quick read, this book is it. I highly recommend it. It's worth your time.
Rating: Summary: Loved It! Review: This book is not like any other book. I don't know how the author got the slang down so good. I think the style this was written with is something that more teen books could use but you really have to know the language of teenagers around you. The story line kept me interested until I was all of a sudden done. I liked how the characters had no loose ends. Tate Thompson does the one thing that I always hope for when I am reading. You find out what happens to all of the characters after they finish high school. That and the slang made this a quick read for me and I really enjoyed the experience. I would recommend this book to people who like teen books and want to read something with a different style.
Rating: Summary: senioritis Review: this book is very inspiring to all young people all over the wolrd. in a way i think this book gives the kids that dont like teachers a kind of hope that there are people who care about you and not makin sure you dont succeed in life. i wish i had a teacher like Mr. Thompson in school. once you start reading the book, its like the characters come alive, you can almost picture the people you went to school with that were just like them. its a really great book, and im glad i got the chance to read it. Mr. Thompson has inspired me to write a novel. this book is a real page turner and i hope you will enjoy it as much as i did
