Rating: Summary: Cirque Du Freak The Vampires Assistant by kent Review: Darren Shan is half vampire and is having difficulties with his new abilities, like finding friends. Mr. Crepsly, Darren's master vampire, joins Darren in a Circus of freaks. As Darren meets new friends, strange things start to happen and Darren must find a way to solve it.
This has "spine chilling" suspense and is the best book I ever read. I definetly would recommend this book to all my friends.
Rating: Summary: IF YOU LIKE GHOSST STORIES THIS IS THE BOOK OR YOU Review: In this book Darren and Mr. Crepsley(Darrens advisor in vampire-ness, lol) decide to join the Cirque De Freak. When there Darren is reintroduced to the Snake Boy(even though they never formally met), named Evra Von. Darren meets many new characters in this second book in the Darren Shaw Saga
They include:
R.V or Reggie Veggie- the vegetarian ecowarrior whose love of animals causes him a great loss.
Sam- the new friend of Darren and Evras who desperately wants to join the Cirque.
Mr. Tiny- a scary man who asks Evra and Darren to feed his followers.
The wolf man- I know that we already knew him but we really see how dangerous he is in this installment.
Since this and the first are the only books in this series Ive read so far, Im gonna say I like this one slightly better. And though the reading level is very comprehendable, thats a very good thing, as I've said before.
Rating: Summary: Better than Book 1 Review: "The Vampire's Assistant," book 2 in Darren Shan's Saga, starts two months after the first one leaves off. Darren and Mr. Crepsley (spelling?) return to the Cirque Du Freak, and the terror starts!!! I liked it even better than the first. I can not wait till book 3 comes out. And yes, this one also has the dreadful last three words, TO BE CONTINUED. I reccommend this book to anyone who has read "Cirque Du Freak" and enjoyed it.
Rating: Summary: Cirque Du Freak:A Vampire's Assistant Review: Are you retculant to eat lima beans? Well, Darren Shan, the half-vampire, AKA A Vampire's assistant, is retculant to drink blood. That's right. B*L*O*O*D. His master, Larten Crepsley, the vampire AKA Mr. Crepsley, is concerned about Darren's health as he diwindles towards death-and misery. A great book, this is. A great book, ending with a tragedy. Brr! Yet... I recommend this book for everybody who knows how to read. J/K.
Rating: Summary: Pretty good! Review: Darren refuses to take blood and as a result he is getting weaker. Mr.Crepsley tries to get him to do it but Darren is too stubborn. Finally something happens that puts Darren in a position where he has no choice. This book was good and heck who said life was easy for a half-vampire.
Rating: Summary: Unique Perspective on Vampires Review: Darren Shan continues his brilliance in this addictive series. The Vampire's Assistant continues the story of young Darren who is a very unwilling apprentice to Mr. Crepsley. Darren is repulsed by the thought of drinking blood to survive, but the author(who is the main character) eventually makes vampires seem like another race or culture as common as can be.
Darren Shan succeeds in making his main character very human(yet a half-vampire) and he makes the characters in the actual Cirque Du Freak seem very every day and not at all freakish.
I read all 12 books in this series and actually ordered the last 4 from England because I couldn't wait to see what would happen next.
Shan's unique perspective on vampires makes this series fun for those who like vampire stories and those who do not. Shan is truly talented.
Rating: Summary: The BEST! Review: Darren Shan is a half-vampire who, in the first book, offered being Mr. Crepsley's assistant, since it meant saving his best friend's life. So Mr. Cepsley, being a vampire, pumped his blood into Darren, making him a half-vampire. In this book, Darren was lonely, since he couldn't have any friends. If he revealed his true identity, vampire hunters would kill him in no time. So with Mr. Crepley they traveled to the Cirque Du Freak, a traveling circuis with strange beings, such as a man with two bellies, a snake boy named Evra, and much more. They all knew about vampires and welcomed Darren, who quickly made a friend, the snake boy Evra. Trouble quickly appeared as humans became Darren's friends... A great book with many twists and unexpected situations. Even better than the first in its series, I would recommend this book to any fantasy or horror fan.
Rating: Summary: A Word From The Author Review: Have you ever thought what it would be like to become a vampire? In most movies and books it's simple: if you join the ranks of the walking dead, you turn into an evil monster who loves to drink blood. But what if vampires weren't evil? What if you were to hold onto your humanity when you changed, but needed to drink blood to survive? Could you bring yourself to attack a fellow human being ... to bite them ... to drink from their veins? This is the key problem Darren Shan faces in the second book of his Saga, THE VAMPIRE'S ASSISTANT. As Mr Crepsley's assistant, he must tend to the needs of his master. But Darren has needs too -- he needs B*L*O*O*D! Can he bring himself to drink, or will he cling to his principles ... and DIE? Join him - and others, including the performers of the Cirque Du Freak, such as the Snake Boy and Cormac Limbs - inside the pages of THE VAMPIRE'S ASSISTANT and find out. But be warned: blood WILL be shed in its gruesomely fierce finale ...
Rating: Summary: Better than the first! Review: I just finished reading The Vampire's Assistant, and I found myself more than satisfied. I have to agree with many reviewers here: this book was better than the first. The book starts were the first book left off. Darren, now half-vampire, travels with Mr. Crespley from place to place. Crespley urges Darren to drink human blood, for no vampire (not even half) can survive without it. Even though Darren doesn't have to kill his victim, he doesn't relent. He will drink animal blood but not human. He wants to keep his humanity. Mr. Crespley and Darren go back to Cirque Du Freak, so Darren have friends and be with people who understand him more. He befriends Evra, the snake boy in the first book, and two humans, Sam and R.V. Darren grows close to Sam, but their friendship is soon in jeopardy when tragedy strikes and leaves Sam (and others) in danger. As said, this book was better than the first. We learn more about chracters like Mr. Crespley, Mr. Tall, all the other freak members. This book has more excitment, suspsense, and dept than the first one (but I did enjoy the first one immensely). For fans of the first one, you definitely don't want to miss this installment!
Rating: Summary: Speechless, better than the first Review: I thought the first book was amazing, after I read this I was SPEECHLESS. JK Rowling probally learned all of her outstanding writing from the half vampire, the talented writer, Darren Shan. Well 5 stars to me isnt enough to give this book. All the readers will die for the next book, Tunnels of Blood, possibly better than the seccond. In this book Darren learns how it is to be a Vampire's Assistant; He joins the cirque and makes friends. More action with the Wolf Man, Mr. Tall, and many others. Lots of action with Darren regreting of trading his life for a vampire and thretening to kill Mr.Crepsely, not only Darren fights off the creatures is friends do to. Does Mr. Crepsley trust Darren with his life, there are many times that Darren could kill him, but does he want too, does he need Mr. Crepsely to teach him the ways of being a vampire, you will find out in the Vampire's assistant. Ps. This book is amazing better than Harry Potter and those other books that dont stand one damn chance against, THE VAMPIRE'S ASSISTANT.
