Summary: Huh?
Review: I started reading this book and loved the 1st story but then I got really confused, all of a sudden it totally changed plot. I was expecting the whole book to be about Aramina. It was a real let down because the blurb suggested nothing of the sort. This was the 1st Anne McCaffrey book I have ever read and, by the way, if any one who is reading this has read other of her books, please, tell me what I should read next. I need some help!!

Summary: The Girl Who Heard Dragons
Review: I was disappointed. I was looking forward to learning more about Armina............. I read a hint in one of Anne McCaffrey's books, that they should be read in the order they came out. This had worked for me. Except,I had read The White Dragon, first. The reason for that was the cover picture comes up each time I turn on my computer.

Summary: Huh??
Review: I was mystifed to say the lest. I remember reading The Girl Who Heard Dragons in High School and having the whole book be about Aramina. I loved that one. This one was most frustrating as you walk into every story somewhere in the middle..at lest that was how I felt as I struggled through the book. I never did make it to the end. If the orginal is somewhere still in print please let me know.

Summary: What????
Review: I was so utterly confused! I loved the first story and I was really looking forward to hearing more about Aramina, but the next chapter was about some outer space colony! Then, the third was about someone interviewing an opera singer! I thought it was a misprint! If anyone does find the original "Girl Who Heard Dragons", please, let me know.

Summary: Not a good collection of short stories.
Review: Of all the 15 short stories in this book I only liked three. I was disappointed.

Summary: OK, fellow-Pern readers, calm down!
Review: The book "The Girl Who Heard Dragons" is NOT a Pern book. There. Maybe that helps a bit. See, this book is a collection of SHORT STORIES. Only the FIRST story takes place on Pern. The other fourteen are a collection of fasinating and extremly diverse group of stories. One of my favorites was "The Greatest Love", which is about two children being born in the womb of their aunt, not their mother. This is done all the time now; women unable to have children find proxy mothers to help them. But this was written years before the procedure was done. Anyway, the point is, this is NOT a Pern book. It's a collection of Anne McCaffrey's writings. The first Pern story was excellant, but the other stories were just as great. And to you confused readers out there . . . take a closer look!

Summary: Great collection of stories by a great authour!!!
Review: The Girl Who Heard Dragons was a great book. I reccommend it to anyone who likes Anne McCaffrey or short stories (and yes, this book is NOT a novel, it's a book of short stories/novellas. Some people seem to be confused...) I really liked the fact that the stories were so different. Reading one type over and over again can be boring, but Girl Who Heard Dragons is a delightful mix of Anne McCaffrey's talents. There's also some great black and white Michael Whelan art inside (but it doesn't turn out too well in the paperback, be warned. I, being an idiot, naturally bought the paperback. Two weeks later, I saw the hardcover at a book clearence for the same price as the paperback. I now have two copies.) So, what can I say? It's a great book, has some great Michael Whelan art (my favorite book cover artist), and it's definetely worth a read

Summary: Anne McCaffrey strikes again!!!!!
Review: The Girl Who Heard Dragons was one of the best books I've read by McCaffrey! I loved the way she wrote each story and the way it all came together. There was a lot of science fiction, rather than fantasy; though, it was still the quality that would you expect from Ms. McCaffrey. I haven't read all of her books, but I've read about 5 or 6 of the Pern series. Read This Book!!!
