Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Disappointing
Review: With a title "learning to meditate" I had expected some introduction to it's basis and how to do it. This book is meant if you want to teach somebody in 30 days how to meditate, and is written like an instructor guide. Unfortunately, I think it is not good even as an instructor guide: it is very methodical (you do this, that, this, that, this, that) and lacks clear oversight. Moreover, it is disturbing that the book on most every single page talks about meditation and it's usefullness to get closer to God. The novice will read this and think that meditation is a way to a deeper religious experience. While the latter is the case, meditation can be practiced by anybody including ateists, and the book is wrongly angled and the title misleading with the "learning to meditate". A better title would be:"How to get closer to God through a meditation course". If you want an introduction to meditation I suggest the book "Meditation and it's Practice" by Swami Rama. Sorry but this book is really not worth buying.
