Summary: If you want to read a book about a bunch of guys marching...
Review: Stephen Crane takes a very interesting struggle with a young boys fears about battle and ruins it. The books begins very well but interest will soon be lost after the first actions taken by the boy. The book was incredibly hard to read, not due to difficulty of writing but to the lack of interest created.

Summary: Literary Analysis
Review: Literary Analysis of The Red Badge of Courage By:Stephen Crane

First published in 1895 "The Red Badge of Courage". I Give four stars. This Book takes place during the civil war, which was a hard time because of the difference in war.{The setting and the literary devices this story make it a proven classic. The Setting of "The Red Badge of Courage" is very important because it gives you a better understanding of the story. Literary Devices in this story give this book a visual on things.Three examples of imagery in this book are... "Jim-Jim-what are you doing- what makes you do this way- you'll hurt yourself." That sentence sets a good imagery because you can just imagne what he's doing."No-No- Don't tech me -leave me be-leave me be-." That quote of imagery gives gives you the feeling that this person is very lonely and does not want to talk to anyone."Good Lord! ". That in a way is imagery because you can just imagine a old guy screaming "Good Lord! ". I feel in this story Stephen Crane did a great job figuring out his thoughts and he wrote them out well. This story gives a very good understanding of what it was like in the Civil War. I infer that Stephen Crane once had a military expierience and wrote about it. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes adventurous stories.

Summary: Meaningful
Review: This book is about a young man that enrolls in the Union army during the civil war, longing for glory, bravery, and being a heroic soldier, although it takes him a while to overcome fear. This is a great book to see through the eyes of a soldier when war was considered noble and glorious. Also, in it are a lot of descriptions of the emotions of the soldiers and the atmosphere of the battlefield. It's a must-read for people interested in war books.

Summary: The worst book I ever read. ( 2 thumbs down)
Review: I made the mistake of assigning this book as summer reading to my 8th grade class. I found, without exception, they all hated the book as well. This book has no historical or literary merit at all. It is a painfull and tiring battle to finish. Do yourself ( and if you are a teacher, your students) a favor, FIND ANOTHER BOOK!

Summary: FABULOUS!
Review: The Red Badge of Courage is one of the best book I read in a long time. I really enjoyed the way Crane described almost every little scene in the story. The author made me feel like I was actually in the story and going through everything Henry was going through. Also, the story is great. It shows a boy go into war and turn into a great man and a courageous soldier. I think anyone can relate to this story. It kind of makes you think about what you would do if you were standing in the middle of a battle field. Because I would not be able to do it, I have a lot of respect for Henry. He faced his fears and became a great soldier.

Summary: The Red Badge of Courage Takes a Black Side to Enthusiasm
Review: This book really didn't interest me at all. I was not happy about how the book was written and it made me want to drop it and never pick it up. I couldn't get into the book at all. The story line was hard to follow and nothing seemed to make sense. As soon as I got into a certain section the plot and idea would change. I'm not a big reader and I really thought that this book would interest me in the slightest way but it really didn't! I was very upset and let down!

Summary: No diving in shallow pages
Review: This was the longest 172 we have ever read. This book was boring and undescriptive. The main character's name is not even revealed until the sixth chapter of the book. And even then, the author never uses his name. If you have insomnia, this book might be your cure.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: I dont find anything wrong with this book
Review: Everyone seems to not like this novel, however, I find it to be a wonderful example of anti-transcendentalism. The main character might be a little hot headed, but there is a reason for that. Steven Crane is trying to get an idea across to the reader that life is not always the way that you would like it to be, or what you thought it would be when you first went into a certain experience. I was required to read this novel for school and found it a very good contrast of Henry David Thoreau's work in Walden. Nathaniel Hawthorne has the same ideas behind Steven Crane's writing. Life is not always what you think it should be.
