Summary: Dream country rings false to Dubois, Wy resident
Review: I read Dream Country about a year ago and I was so discusted with the book...well I can't even put in in words. I grew up in Dubois, Wy, the town that the story takes place, and it is appearant to me that Ms. Rice has never visited Dubois, and possibly never stepped foot in the state of Wyoming all together. Her discriptions of Wyoming life, the country surrounding Dubois, living on a ranch, livestock management, the town of Dubois itself, wildlife, and well too many things to mention continually ring false to a Wyoming native.

I feel Ms. Rice has insulted me and other Wyoming residents by writing this unresearched book when she appearantly has no knowledge of the makings of its content.

I had enjoyed a couple of her books in the past, but after reading this load of crap I will never read another of her books for fear that it will be filled with rubbish and lies. I would challenge Ms. Rice to research her books better in the future, or stick to writing what she knows.

Summary: Ja Fool is rapping
Review: I think this is one of Ms. Rice's best books yet. I loved the Wyoming setting and the characters Jake and Sage. The Indian folklore thrown in was an added treat. To be honest, I was getting a little tired of the Connecticut shoreline and this fresh setting renewed my love for her stories. I think this book would be perfect for a sequel! I love books that make me cry and and that renew my faith in the power of love and family. A fabulous story!

Summary: One to read
Review: I totally enjoyed this book. It was an easy read with a good story. It is about a couple that divorced after the heartache of a missing child. Daisy can't stay where she lost her son and James will not leave because he is always keeping a watch for his return. When their daughter (who was living with Daisy) runs away across country to James, Daisy comes to wait for her daughters safe arrival. This is a touching story to show the power of faith and love.

Summary: A WONDERFUL READ
Review: I very rarily have time to read. With two small boys I usually don't find the time for myself. I bought this book and I finished it in two days! I couldn't put this book down, it was very good. I felt like I was right there in the story.

Summary: Luanne Rice is the BEST!!!
Review: I was e-shopping and found Luanne Rices' "Blue Moon", it was my first, and since then I've read everyone of her books I could get my hands on. Dream Country was just as I expected from Ms. Rice. I laughed, cried, and dreamed. Reading her books is an escape from reality, but makes your realize life is real at times and fictional as well. I love to take time for me. And doing it with a Luanne Rice book is theraputic(? sp) As long as she keeps writing them, I'll keep reading them.

Summary: Couldn't put it down
Review: I was sorry to see that this book got a cumulative rating of 3 1/2 stars because I think it deserved better than that. I felt intensively involved in the emotions of the characters. While the kidnapping of a child is not an everyday ocurrence, the unfolding of the family relations was very real, not sugarcoated. Yet I loved the spirituality and hope that permeated the book. I would love to see a sequel or spinoff, particularly what happens next in Jake's life.

Summary: a must read book for luanne rice fans
Review: I've never written one of these reviews before but felt I had to for this book so that other readers might give it a chance. I loved this book, and belive it to be the best book she has written so far. I was skeptical about reading this at first due to reviews that I had read. The setting of this book differs from most of Rice's books being that most of the story does not take place in New England. This book deals with love lost and found again and with how every one deals differently with the loss of loved ones. I could not put this one down and ended up reading it cover to cover in one day.

Summary: Not One of Her Best Pieces!
Review: I've read Luanne Rice's last two books (Cloud Nine & Follow the Stars Home) so I anxiously awaited the release of Ms. Rice's newest novel. I heard about it back in October, and as the day got closer, I began to get excited. Boy, was I disappointed. The story carries a bit of a mystery (which I'm not a huge fan of any way), but believe me when I tell you - NO SUSPENSE WHATSOEVER!!!! I figured out the ending less than 100 pages into the story. I only continued reading because I was curious how long it would take the characters to figure out what I already knew - It took until about the last 2-3 chapters - then the story was rushed forward to wrap it up nicely leaving no loose ends whatsoever. She took all this time dragging out the story - following the characters around & basically getting to know them (which was one of the pluses of this book & why I gave it three stars - good character development), only to have the ending rushed through way too quickly. I also found it senseless to have new characters, never mentioned at all earlier, introduceed in the final chapters of the book. They made brief appearances apparently in an effort to fill up pages - How else can it be explained? I don't want to give it away - there may be others who find this story interesting & would like to figure it out for themselves, I just felt totally let down and disappointed way before I finished reading this book, and for once, was glad when I finished reading it so I could go on to my next book!

Summary: very disappointing
Review: I've read several of Ms. Rice's books and this was the one I've liked the least. I'm from a large city but even I couldn't believe that calves were all taken from the cows for slaughter. The information about puppy mills is pretty accurate and very sad but wolves in Wyoming - I don't think so - probably coyettes. There were too many coincidences in this book - especially the finding of the lost child. Everything was tied up very nicely in the end - too nicely. Very predictable for the most part and extremely disappointing. If this had been the first book of her's I'd read it would also have been the last.
