Rating: Summary: Unmatched Review: This is one of my favorite books. The only other book that might be better is The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman, but Jack London has definitely outdone himself this time. It is the story about an animal who is three quarters wolf and a one quarter dog who goes from life as an indian sled dog to a fighting dog owned by a cruel man, to a loving owner who trys to show this maddened savage creature the meaning of love and kindness. What is really unique about White Fang is that it tells of what might be going on in such a creature's head. It tells of what it is like living in a den out in the wild, tells of how White Fang first comprehends the wild and what he learns aboout the law of life. It explains what his first impression of humans, and of the harsh enviorment of all the other puppies and dogs in the camp. It is beautifully written and I would suggest it to anyone who likes long, thought provoking stories about dogs and wolves and the northlands.
Rating: Summary: one of a kind Review: This book is one of me favorites. I love the style of wich it written how the main character changes a few times from a traveler, to a mother-wolf, to white fang himself. The book is so realistic and well worth the time.
Rating: Summary: It was long and boring Review: White Fang was written too old fasond. The words were too hard .The story was boring and long. It was also difficult to read.
Rating: Summary: this book was a boring and long book Review: white fang is a long book that would have been better if it was in better english rather than the unabridged edition which is the one i read . I think I would have liked it better if it were not as long and in better english.
Rating: Summary: The role of environment. Review: London wrote this novel to complement "The Call of the Wild." He draws on his own experiences in the Klondike to provide accurate descriptions of life in that part of the world in the late 1890s. White Fang is part wolf and part dog. He is sold by his Indian owner to a man who tries to make him more savage so that money could be made from dogfights. White Fang is rescued by a mining engineer who takes him home to California. While there he rescues the family from an escaped convict. London shows how much environment can play in one's life.
Rating: Summary: The book was very good. A little on the boring side. Review: This book was very good. Jack London went into great detail about many things. He really made a picture in your mind. But, there is so much detail, it can tend to get a little boring. Besides that, it was a great book. Read it.
Rating: Summary: I THOUGH THE BOOK WAS O.K,BUT IT WAS KIND OF BORING. Review: IT WAS AN O.K BOOK,BUT IT WAS KIND OF BORING IN THE BEGINNING OF THE BOOK. IT SEEMED THAT THEY WERE NEVER GOING TO TALK ABOUT ANOTHER PART OF THE BOOK.
Rating: Summary: This Book Was Boring Review: I thought this book was the most boring thing ever. I am just a student and I was forced to read it for a report. I saw the movie and that was pretty good but the book was nothing like it. PLease if u haven't read it yet, don't waste your time.
Rating: Summary: I am sorry, but this book was not as good as I was expecting Review: As I started to read this book, I thought that I would enjoy it immensely. However, it was a very slow-moving book that did not seem to go anywhere. I felt extremely bad that White Fang (the dog) was unloved until later in life when he was taken under the wing of Weeden Scott. This book was a very big let-down, and I think that Jack London killed himself because he bored himself with this book.
Rating: Summary: White Fang is the best novel on emotions and the wild Review: No book that i have ever read has captured the essence of nature, humans, or love as this one has. I first read it in second grade and find it gets better every time i read it. I would recomend white fang to anyone who loves to read, or just wants to feel great.
