Review: I think Term Paper is Rinaldi's first book. I've been looking for this book for ages when finally I came across it at a public library. 14 year old Nicki is a freshman at Runnymede High and she has her brother Tony for a teacher! Tony assigns Nicki's whole English Lit class a Term Paper on anything they'd like to write about. Only he wants Nicki to write about a death in the family-the death of their father which Nicki thinks she killed. This book is Nicki's term paper (a rather long term paper) and its filled with Nicki's feelings and thoughts as she struggles in her world with no mother and an uncaring father. She goes through alot when Tony's wife has drinking problems, and the result is terrible. It tells how she learns to survive with her loving adult brothers, Larry and Tony. I thought this book was great! Ann Rinaldi's sequel to this book, "Promises are for Keeping" is also very good. I think this book shows that Ann Rinaldi can write quality stuff that isn't only historical fiction (even if her historical fiction books are good.) I hope anyone who has the chance to get this book will read it since its out of print and you can't really find it anywhere.
