Rating: Summary: great book! :) Review: "pearl harbour, 1941" is one of the best historical disasters/romances that i've read. it tells the story of bekah martin and scott deangelo, who meet on a boat traveling to hawaii. bekah was previously engaged to david maclaughlin, who she saw die in a fire. her family and his have decided that she should marry ian, his twin brother. to piece her life back together after the fire, bekah went to san francisco to take a nurse training course. upon her return to hawaii [with her aunt, who likes to play matchmaker], she meets scott, who challenges her bitterness towards love [she doesn't love ian, her fiancé.] after some time, she realizes that she has fallen in love with him, but before she gets a chance to tell him, the japanese attack pearl harbour. what happens in the next few chapters is a vivid description of the events on the ship nevada, including bekah seeing scott on fire. will she ever get to tell him her real feelings? this book is very well written, with descriptive words and a good plot. while the romance seemed a little unrealistic [but what can you expect, it's fiction!], the description of the attack was vivid and very, very real. and the dialogue between bekah & scott was pretty cute. if not for the romance, read it for the pearl harbour attack; you will be very pleased! :)
Rating: Summary: A beautifully written love story. Review: At twenty years of age, Rebekah Martin lost her beloved fiance David McLaughlin to a tragic fire. Even though she knew she did not, and would never, love him, she agreed to return and marry David's twin brother Ian once her heart had healed. And with that promise, Bekah leaves her sheltered life in the territory of Hawaii and goes to live with her aunt in San Francisco. Haunted by memories of the night David died and believing she could have done something more to save him, Bekah struggles to let go of the past. Her aunt tries to persuade her to stay, but after nearly a year on the mainland, Bekah decides it is time to return home to face Ian and fulfill her promise. It is November of 1941, and the United States is beginning to prepare for a possible entry into the second World War. On the sea voyage home, Bekah meets Scott DeAngelo, a naval ensign from New York. Although she feels an attraction to Scott, Bekah is afraid to fall in love again - she has forced herself to believe that a loveless marriage would be better than the possibility of another loss. But as war clouds loom on the horizon, Bekah begins to realize that sometimes the only thing a person can do is follow their heart, wherever it may lead them. I really enjoyed this wonderful book. Bekah was a courageous heroine who faces many losses but struggles to build a new life. I highly reccomend this book.
Rating: Summary: Really Great!~ Review: I like this book because after I read the ending I was a bit sad but then I realized...since they don't exactley tell you the ending...depending on wether you're optimistic or pessimistic it can go either way! It's a really cool book I luv it!
Rating: Summary: Pearl Harbor,1941 Review: I loved this book!It was a great love story. If you are a hopeless romantic like me you won't be able to put it down. But beware, it will make you cry.HAPPY READING!
Rating: Summary: I luv it but it's torture! Review: I loved this book. I luv romance and lately have really been getting into historical fiction. This book had both and i liked that. ANyway, though, the book was torture, too. I was upset about him dying, but, then, the author doesn't really say he's dead(although u kind of get a clue, when he stops using morse code.). There is no finality. For me, that's torture. I can't stand not knowing what's going to happen in a book, especially when there's no sequel(lk there could be a sequel to Pearl Harbor). I mean, I'd be REALLY upset if he had died, but not knowing.....I can almost not take it!! Amean, I'll get over it, but i just finished the book right now, and, let me just say, there's pain at knowing if he lived or died.

Rating: Summary: An enjoyable book Review: I think how you feel about the book depends on what kind of stories you like to read. If you enjoy historical-fiction and romance then it is a good book, if you don't enjoy that, you probably won't want to read this book. I think the author tied together the history of the war time and the love story very well. It gives the reader a look in to Bekah and Scott's lives from two different views. Not only does is it a story about their love and what they have to overcome to be together but also about how they lived their normal lives during that period of time. I enjoy both historical-fiction and romance so I found the book very good and enjoyable to read.
Rating: Summary: The Best Book I have read in along time Review: I thought that this book was extreamly good. I loved every bit of it! I suggest this book to everyone. It was soooo exciting!! Because i have always been curios about Pearl Harbor after I saw the movie. This book will always be my favorite.
Rating: Summary: The best love story? GIVE ME A BREAK!!! Review: My Mom thought this book was the novelization of the Pearle Harbor movie which will be comming out soon. Well she was wrong, it is a totally different story. Not to metion a totally pointless one at that. The story was what you call a flop. She was what you call a dramatized girl, he,a romantic. Another thing was, the whole thing was too perfect, the beaches, the silver moon in the sky. I couldn't stand it. For a while it sparked my interest, but that was only because the cover looked decent...It was not what you could call a satisfying book, at least it didn't satisfy me. But hey, you might feel differently. It's your choice.
Rating: Summary: This is for Megan Taggert who said this book was awful... Review: Ok Megan, obviously youve never been to Hawaii because number one every night unless its raining in Hawaii has the perfect beaches and the silver moon in the sky - as you call it. Thats what its like so dont start critisizing it when you dont know what its like. And number two dont tell me that you wouldnt be upset if you had nightmares about your fiancee dying over and over again and then being forced to marry a man who is like Ian and whom you dont love. And lastly if you really want a book that is a novelization of the movie Pearl Harbor go buy it and stop complaining that this book was awful because it wasnt it, it was a beautifully written story about the tragic events that happened in Pearl Harbor with some romance thrown in that is like a fairy tale. I do have to admit the end did leave me hanging but other than that it was so good. I recommend this book to anyone who like romance and Historical Fiction.
