Summary: One of my all time favorites.
Review: I have read the book and have seen and own all three movie versions (Shirley Temple, BBC and this one) althouh the BBC on has the correct story, this is my favorite. I don't care that they changed the story in fact I liked it better this way. I have probably seen this movie at least 15 times. It is one of my all time favorite movies. My favorite part is when the indian guy does that mind thing with Sara's father and then her father runs outside and screams on the top of his lungs "Sara". That part is so good. I could go on and on about all my other favorite parts but that would take too long and I would end up talking about every scene in the movie. BUY IT!

Summary: Watch this film for its own merits, not as an adaption!
Review: If you are familiar with the classic children's novel of the same title, you may find this film adaptation to be lacking. But, when you watch the movie on its own, it is an absolutely lovely and charming film that is appropriate for any age. I originally skipped this movie in the theatres because it was billed as a "children's film" and I'm sorry I missed it on the big screen.

Some other reviewers have remarked upon some problems with the acting. With the exception of some caricatures in characterization with the adult roles, I didn't have any problems with that aspect of the production. Liesel Matthews does a bang up job in the lead as Sara Crewe and I hope she has a long and successful career.

As far as extras are concerned, there aren't a lot on this DVD. There's no commentary track but you do get both a pan & scan and a widescreen version. There are both French and Spanish soundtracks and captioning as well as three theatrical trailers and some production notes. This is a very well produced disc for the price and a good value.

Summary: A Little Princess
Review: I have read this book several times. I like it because SaraCrewe was brave and that she always had an optimistic mind. She alwayswanted to help the poor and other people who needed attention such asBecky the overworked servant and Ermangarde the girl with no friends. I also like Sara because she knew how to talk back to Miss Minchin and snobby Lavinia.

Summary: PERFECT FOR THE OLD AND THE YOUNG
Review: This was a great movie to watch with my little sister. It was the type of fairytale story we could both enjoy. Liesel Matthews is such a talented actress. She was perfect in this role. I think every child, and every adult can relate to something in this movie. Whether it be the fact that a war has forced a man to leave his child at a boarding school, or a young girl having to adjust to new friends,a bully, and a mean-spirited head-mistress of the school. Through all this young girl endures, she keeps a positive attitude and survives. Very uplifting for the young.

Summary: a little princess-a little treasure
Review: This book is a pleasant escape into the 19th century streets of London. It's classic beauty develops as you enter the mind of Sara Crewe. This sweet, imaginative little girl's reign as princess at Miss Michin's school for young girls turns dark when the death of her father leaves her devasted and penniless.Though her position drastically changes, she remains the same. The surprising ending is completely satisfied, making this book a dazzling tale for all ages to read again and again.

Summary: The First Time I Fell In Love
Review: This was my favourite book as a child, and I can still pick it up today and be engrossed. In truth I have read it about twelve times.

Whether you want to read it to your children, or there is someone of any age that has a love affair with books, this book is perfection.

Filled with adventure, imagination, and a healthy morality this book is truly like a carrot juice after a choc-fest - refreshing! (**Warning: a can't put down item)

Summary: My favorite childhood classic
Review: "A Little Princess" was my favorite book as a child, and I still find it enjoyable as an adult. It is a beautifully told story about a bright, imaginative little girl with a strong survival instinct. The plot and characters in the book are well-developed and come alive on the pages; Burnett's skill is such that I could feel the chill of midwinter England even in July in Texas! Sarah's tormentors are cruel and merciless, but she eventually triumphs over them. I was an abused child, and reading about Sarah's happy ending gave me hope that I would experience a happy ending, too. I highly recommend this book; not only is it entertaining, but it emphasizes the values of perserverance and loyalty, the importance of even small acts of kindness, and the joys and comforts to be gained from believing in oneself.

Summary: A book with great values
Review: I didn't come upon A Little Princess until I saw the 1995 Warner Brothers film. Shortly thereafter, I purchased the book. I thoroughly enjoyed both, but there were huge differences between the two; the largest being the fate of Sara's father and the time span of the story. Despite the differences, both instill the values of imagination, respect for all people, and the power of kindness.

Summary: A Little Princess-A little Classic
Review: I loved the book and read it three times! I read it when I was 8 and love it now at 11 years old. Sara Crew is sent to Miss Minchin's Academy for Young Ladies in London leaving her wondeful but widowed father and India. She is treated wondefully then after a time her father dies and she is left without a penny. She is forced to become a maid and befriends another maid named Becky. However the ending is very good! In fact the entire book is a masterpiece beyond a doubt! Every girl should have to read it!
