Rating: Summary: Extreme Elvin is Extremely Funny Review: Elvin is an overweight kid who is starting high school. Unlike his two best friends Frankie and Mike, he is not prepared for what high school has in store for him. He is overwhelmed by the concept of his weight, meeting girls at the school dance, and the peer pressure of some high school seniors who more or less are feared by everyone in the all boys school. This is a hilariously funny book that shows how Elvin's "relationships" with his best friends and mother (and to-be girlfriend) are unique and special. This is a great read, and anyone in jr. high or high school who has a funny, wise guy sense of humor and is not afraid to laugh out loud should read it.
Rating: Summary: Talk About Extreme Nonsense Review: Extreme Elvin is a fairly good book. Except for all the nonsense that goes on. Some of the things mentioned were totally unesseccary and totally something that we didn't need to know. Except without it there would be no point what-so-ever to the story. I really did enjoy the book though. I love the humorous events that went on and also it helped me to understand that not every teenagers life is perfect and that like me they also go through many...conflicts. I also think that in these types of books they shouldn't have so many "disfuntional" families. I think that kids should know that there are happy families that don't have these heartwrenching problems as displayed in many books and particularly in this book.Even though the amount of "disfuntional" families is growing.
Rating: Summary: THe Strangest book Review: For school this summer one of our assingments was to read a book by Chris Lynch. I chose this cause it looked cool but it was the strangest thing I've ever read. I think my teacher's gonna be suprised when he reads my book repors
Rating: Summary: All teenagers must read this book Review: I really enjoyed this book. It was so funny, that I laughed out loud many times. What a great character. I hope there is more, because Elvin is a great guy!
Rating: Summary: hysterical Review: I really enjoyed this book. It was so funny, that I laughed out loud many times. What a great character. I hope there is more, because Elvin is a great guy!
Rating: Summary: Must-Read! Review: I really loved this book. The thoughts that crossed Elvins mind were entertaining and hilarious. I'm reading it for the second time now...
Rating: Summary: Hilarious Review: This book is about a fourteen-year-old boy named Elvin who is trying to discover things about himself. I found this novel addressed many fears and issues young adults might face in high school. Along with the adolescent issues, Lynch provides the reader with laughter and some very interesting comical issues. This book would be a great booktalk or just to pass from reader to reader.
Rating: Summary: Kept me smiling :)) Review: This book kept me smiling all the way. However at one point it got so boring that I thought twice about if I should continue it or not. I'm pleased with the decision I made (continuing of course!) because it became interesting after a while. Elvin started to be cool but at the same time he looked stupid. Generally it was ok , but if you want to reaad something meaningful , stay extremely far from this one. It's nonsense , just a little bit of romance and some dowdy guy hanging around. The topic's nice and interesting, but the book's really not worth your time. Read "Animal Farm" or "The Giver" , if you hadn't already done , if you want something that'll make you think. Those books are terrific , and this one doesn't even give you a good time. So I say - FORGET IT. I only read it because I like Chris Lynch. But I'm truly dissappointed by this book. It kept me smiling , that's right because the guy is so hopeless that it makes you laugh.
Rating: Summary: All teenagers must read this book Review: This book tells it how it is. This is Lynch's best book yet. An extremley funny, overweight teen named Elvin has a hilarious adventure with girls, friends and parties. A must have for all teenagers. You will never put this book away before you're done. I read it and I can relate to almost anything that happened to him. Any Jr. High or High school student will love this book. I recomend this book to everyone. Enjoy!
Rating: Summary: Um, yeah, ok. Review: Well, I can say that the writing is good, and that many of the details in the story, such as the lazy dog, were quite funny. I know that some kids have problems, however, for me Elvin was a totally unsympathetic character. I wanted to go into the book and kick his [rear] myself! Anyway if you like stories about losers you might like this.
