Summary: Don't judge L.M. Montgomery on the basis of this book
Review: Although this book is beautifully written, it is not LMM at her best. The characters never really live, and I didn't care about what happened to them. The goodies were too good, and the baddy appeared to have no redeeming characteristics whatsoever. Try The Blue Castle instead.

Summary: Read it - without expecting too much
Review: Dont start this book expecting an Emily-like (which I consider Maud's very best) or even an Anne-like romance plot here. Thankfully, I read it before I read the Emily series - and I enjoyed it a lot at the time. While there is a certain charm about the book (it cannot be otherwise if its written by Maud), it lacks that certain - how to put it...ethereality of the Emily romance. There are few of those heartfelt poetry-in-prose paragraphs which makes Emily a standout. But still, if you are a LMMontgomery fan, you wouldnt want to miss it. If no tfor the plot, at least for that very beautiful world which the author manages to draw up with such apparent ease. My advice - do have a gop at it, withou texpecting too much.

Summary: One of the best by LM Montgomery
Review: Everyone is familiar with Lucy Maud Montgomery's Anne of Green Gables series, yet not many realize she has many other books about other equally enchanting characters. Kilmeny of the Orchard is one example of that. Kilmeny is a sweet, mute girl who is the object of the wealthy Eric's desire. Raised in the lap of luxury, Eric has to figure out how to earn what he wants, her love. A lovely, old fashioned story.

Summary: Simple yet charming
Review: I absolutely love this story. For those that say that the characters are too 'goody' to be true... perhaps they are, but aren't most movies too action-packed and full of good-looking people to be true? After all... how many of us really want a book to be just like true life? No, I like my books to be fairy-tales... of course they couldn't come true! This book is one of the most beautiful fairy-tale love stories of all time. And the shortness of it, and 'lack of depth' - as some are putting it - only leave more to the imagination. :-)

Summary: A True Romance
Review: I couldn't believe the review one person wrote about "Kilmeny" entitled ho hum! This is no action adventure book, but it is not intended to be. Read Indiana Jones or Left Behind if you want action. This is one of Lucy's best novels. With a male main character, is is unique among her other full length works. This story tells a beautiful tale of true love. Eric truly loves this girl for her character, not for superficial reasons. He delights in her beauty because there is character behind it. Kilmeny is the one who truly displays sacrificial love. As Lucy Maud so eloquently puts it, her love was so strong that it would not allow her to do him (Eric) what she believed to be a wrong. That is a pure love which is too scarce in our world today. But I guess if you don't want to read about a beautiful love story, deep emotion, moving triumphs, and men treating the women they love as they deserve, with tenderness and respect, then this book really is ho-hum. ;)

Summary: a wonderful romance
Review: I finished reading this book in just one day. It's a very sweet little romance story. If you love the Anne and Emily series, if you love The Blue Castle, you will definitely love this book too. Although I must admit the characters in this book weren't as real as the other characters we met in other LMM works like Anne, or Emily. It's still wonderful to be able to read a little sweet story once in awhile, so as to enhance one's scope for the imagination.

Summary: This book is almost perfect...
Review: I liked the book Kilmeny of the Orchard because, well, I have a uneque reason that I do not exactly know how to describe. Kilmey Gorden is an eighteen-year-old beauty that belevies herself to be ugly. Her mother, Margaret, told her so. Kilmeny, the eighteen-year-old that she is, has never looked into a mirrior in her life. Eric Marshall, the schoolmaster for the town of Lindsay, meets Kilmeny one day in an old orchard. To find the heart of this book, read it. It is a wonderful book.

Summary: a really beautiful book
Review: i loved this story because the author was able to put so many things into such a thin book (compared to her others)... i really enjoyed reading it and it is definitely one i'll read over and over again.
