Rating: Summary: This book is awesome! Review: +AH4-Julie Wallace is the main character in this wonderful novel. As an editor of The Sentinel (her father's newspaper), Julie discovers what it's like to live in a lower class society that what she's used to. As they encounter floods, poverty, and hostility from neighbors, the Wallace family manages to pull together and survive it all. In addition to all this, Julie is torn between two wonderful men. I loved this book! The plot and setting of this novel are so life-like, that it's not hard+AH4-+AH4- to believe that this is a true story! The characters are very real and down to earth. I commend Catherine Marshall on an awesome job well done!+AH4-
Rating: Summary: I really enjoyed the book, I thought it was interesting Review: I enjoyed reading about Christy and her adventures that she had. It was amazing to see how God worked through her life and help her get through daily problems that she had. I also thought that the children in the books were so inspiring. The way they wanted to go to school and were willing to go no matter what. Bear foot through snow and all. It made me think that sometimes we take education for granted.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Review: I loved this book and would recomend it to anyone. I first read it when I was 13 and have read it many more times since then.
Rating: Summary: Read this book! Review: This book is truly an inspiration for any young woman who isn't yet sure who she is or who God is. I have read it several times from cover to cover. it is not a silly, wishy-washy romance novel. It has everything in it...adventure, romance, mystery. It is a must-read for any female!
Rating: Summary: heavy Review: It took me a month to read this book. Very deep and realistic and depressing. The ending seemed very artificial.
Rating: Summary: Christy is such a great book, I couldn't put it down. Review: The characters struggle with real problems that many people have, but no one will talk about. "Christy" takes you into the life of a young girl struggling, but not afraid to voice her hardships and trials. She works her way through failure, hope, love, search for acceptance, and journeys through the paths of life that eventually lead her to her place in the world.
Rating: Summary: This book is Great for everyone to read! Review: This Book has been a great lesson for me. It told me life is about trusting in God and in my self. I would recomed this book to anyone who loves a wonderful book!
Rating: Summary: timeless as written first 30 years ago Review: First read in l969 and have read many times. The Christy videos and tv programs; also the Christy series adapted for Children are written so that readers are taken back in time that could be today==each adapted book expands on Christys adventures in the original. Im sure many new teachers like myself have been inspired by a young l9 year old girl going to a primitive superstitious people and the reader is drawn into Christys love for the people of Cutter Gap. From Lundy to Mountie to Alice--I felt like I knew the characters personaly. Like all her books she portrays God as a Friend without being preachey. She describes how she doesnt like religion based on superstition. So many young adult books today are written with language, or the characters dont believe in God, or are bitter or cynical--books like Christy and the young adult versions are very refreshing in this world of uncertainty.brings hope. I have a Masters in School Media, am a hospital and parochial school librarian and have read many young adult books. Christy is among the best. The characters are real as if the person really knows their struggles with superstition--even pigs living under the school, or wearing smelly necklaces of herbs to keep evil away--yet the children wanting to be like their beloved teacher. Christy wants so much to help and change the superstitions, lack of cleanliness, illness==her struggles are honest. She loves her children and people of cutter gap but knows she is not superhuman.
Rating: Summary: this book was like really cool. Review: I think that this book was just like totally awsome and i reccomend that other people read it.
