Rating: Summary: PLEASE WRITE ANOTHER SEQUEL! Review: I have read this book several times, watch the tv show on PAX tv, and thoroughly enjoy the characters and setting of the novel. I only wish two things, one that there is a sequel so we find out who Christy marries (I think it's the doctor) and two, that Amazon would carry more of the videos. I highly recommend this book!
Rating: Summary: I Loved It! Review: Christy was an inspiring story for me at the tender age of 12. Christy Huddleston's journey to the Smokies and her search for meaning inspired me to do just what she did. I wanted to teach those free souls of the children something they could use in society. Christy taught me about morals and friendship and loyalty. I will never forget that book and I read it over and over again, because I love it so. I'm still aspiring to teach children who cannot get a proper scholastic education and hope to make a difference in someone's life as much as Miss Huddleston did in the lives of the people of Cutters Gap.
Rating: Summary: Christy Review: Christy was a beautifully written journey which allowed the reader to experience a complete emotional span. While remembering what matters most, the story was filled with insight, inspiration and sensitivity.
Rating: Summary: was it a mystery, or am i dumb? Review: i may be totally stupid, but whenever i read this book it drives me insane because it doesn't say WHO she ends up marrying. Am i just missing it, or is it the greatest secret of all time? help! Anyway, David is awesome (he is sooooo cute in the tv series! my sister and i have "fallen in love" with Randal Batinkoff) Christy is an intriuging character, and I really could "see" through her eyes the way C. Marshall wrote it. check out "Julie" by the same author, it's really good!
Rating: Summary: This Is My Favorite Book Review: I love this book sooooo much. I had to read it for a class and this is the fastest I've ever read a book for school. It is kind of a romance novel only it isn't tacky. You should definetly read this book!
Rating: Summary: Great, wholesome book for young adults + Review: This is a great, wholesome book from which the reader will be drawn to. The book is based around a 19 year old, Christy, who leaves her family behind in exchange for a teaching position in Cutter Gap, Tennesse. But when Christy arrives in the mountainous Cutter Gap, she finds another side of life that her parent's had not prepared her for. For here, the children don't have shoes, they cannot read, the houses are little huts . . . And to top it off, two handsome men fall in love with Christy but who will she choose? This book shows you life in a different perspective. It's a must for anyone needing a good read!
Rating: Summary: Christy by Catherine Marshall Review: Inspirational. A good read and re-read. A great gift for those you love
Rating: Summary: A great book Review: Christy, I felt, was really sentimental. Christy's love for the children showed how much she deeply cared. I liked the fact that the entire story is based on Catherine's Marshall's mother, just as Julie is just about based on Catherine's life. The ending though seems a little disappointing-it doesn't go far enough. We know they got together by the foreward, but the ending doesn't seem enough. I want to know more? What happened between the ending and the foreward? I just love this book and have read it more than I can remember. Miss Alice was such a warm person that you want to get to know her. The parson, David Grantland, seemed like a dream (especially on the television show!, but I think he didn't really know what he wanted until the very end. The doctor, Neil McNeil, seemed so dashing and rugged. I am glad the ending turned out as it did. The t.v. show of it was really interesting eventhough it didn't exactly follow the book. My real problem with it is that I missed the last episode! My mom watched it and said it left you hanging with Christy trying to decided between the doctor proposing and David with a ring right in front of her. I missed it! Aaargh!
Rating: Summary: Personally this book deserves more than 5 stars!!! Review: Christy is the best book!!! I loved how Catherine Marshall portrayed Christy and especially Ms. Alice! I felt like I was really there watching Christy go through the hardships that the mountain people went through. The ending was the BEST!!!!!! When Christy catches the fatal disease and she sees Fairlight and her child I just could'nt help crying, actually I could'nt stop!! This is an all time favorite that I could read over and over again. Highley recommended!!! A++++++
Rating: Summary: As good now as it was when I was 12 (maybe even better) Review: As good as the TV show is (was), it does not do the book justice! My mother gave me this book when I was 12, and I have had many copies over the years, always giving them to someone else to enjoy. This story is as good now as it was then. I only wish I knew "the rest of the story." I would like to know what happened after the end of the book. Does anyone know if Catherine Marshall ever wrote about that? In a nutshell, this book is a classic.
