Summary: one of the bestest books
Review: The Monument by Gary Paulson was one of his worst books he has written. I think that this book is terrible. I think that it is a terrible book for a 13-year-old boy. I think that it is only good in the way that it is short and the words are in size font 20. It is a very easy to read book just to get it over with. It would be a great book for people who are obsessed with art. I think art and paintings and drawings are so stupid and senseless. My art teacher says, everything on earth revolves around art. I dont understand how the entire universe has something that has to do with art. Here is a brief summary about this book. In a little town of Bolton, Kansas lives a little girl named Rockey. She grew up in a foster home where she gets adopted and finds lots of love for her new family and also for art. She discovers her true talent is making painting and drawing of the town and the people around her. The town of Bolton, Kansas is deciding to create a monument in the town for the people who have died in past wars. The man who is constructing the monument is named Mick. Mick and Rockey meet and together they create a strong bond. They paint and draw pictures of the town and decide that the town needs a statue of some sort. There is some democracy over this and a few breaks and bends in what they are trying to do.

Summary: It was pretty good
Review: The Monument is nothing new. We have all heard the story before. Poor pre-teen meets unreliable mentor. Mentor changes poor kids life, leaves town. All is good. I was bored by the book and I was happy when it was over. It is an easy read, so if you need something to take up pages for school, it is perfect. There is no deeper meaning to The Monument. I found the Monument to be more of an art lesson than a novel. Although I had no interest in the story, after reading it I had a new respect for artists and the work they do. I am not an artist, at all. But Mick kind of made me feel like I could do it. Let's not get ahead of ourselves though, the book inspired no new ambitions, it just helped my English grade. I had never read a Gary Paulsen book before, and I assure you that I never will. Unless my life depends on it.

If you have trouble with understanding good stories, The Monument is a great settlement between greatness, and boredom. Don't let me tell you though, read it for yourself, it won't take long.

Summary: The Monument
Review: The Monument takes place in Bolton, Kansas, where a young girl named Rocky struggles to fit in her new town. She was adopted by Emma and Fred in a great house where her life begins to come together.
One afternoon, Rocky was walking around with her new dog, Python, where she meets Mick. Mick is a very artistic kid who was chosen to construct the town monument. Rocky and Mick become great friends, and they learn to respect each other.
I thought this book could've been better written. It had a couple pages where it got my attention, but sometimes became dull. I would reccomend this book to ages 10 and up.

Summary: The Monument
Review: The Monument was a great book if you like art. It gives you the feel for what other artists like to draw and how they draw.
It all starts when Rocky meets the person who is deciding on the Monument. The artist, Mick, helps her find that she likes to draw and there is no right or wrong way to draw. Even though Mick might not draw the most enjoyable pictures, he still makes the town have a great monument that represents what the town's centerpiece.
I recommend this book for people who want to be artistic and people who really want to learn about art. Find out what Mick does for a Monument and more about Rocky's life in The Monument.

Review: The Monument
Gary Paulsen
Young adult
The story starts off with young girl in an adoption center that is run by nuns. She had a problem with her knee and the doctors finally just had to fuss her knee together and would never be able to bend it again. She has a hard time getting adopted but because of her knee but after a while she does. She moved to a small town in the middle of nowhere with her new family
I personally did not like this book there was no action, it was not funny, and it was very boring. I do not recommend this book to anyone.
I hated this book and think it was the worst one Gary Paulsen has written. "I remember back at the adoption center all the girls would have a picnic in the bathroom." pg 43. This book was very mellow and did not like it. It was very touching though and if you like simple happy books instead of action and adventure (like me) then I suggest you read this book. This book did not have many things that happened in it that got your attention it just droned on and on.
I could not relate to this book at all and did not understand what the character was feeling sometimes.

Summary: Terrible
Review: This book has little plot and is lacking substance. It is abouta pathetic young girl who's only friend is a dog. And if you think that'slame she meets a man by seeing him with his pants down so from then on in they become friends. Mick the artist with his pants down influences the main character to be an artist and the lameness begins!!!!!!!!!

Summary: This book was very deep.
Review: This book was so good! It was deep and complex I was laughing one minute and crying the next. I loved this book, and this is I think only my second book that I have read by Paulsen. But if this is like all of his work then he will soon be one of my favorite authors!
