Rating: Summary: New Edition Even Better!!! Review: The fourth edition really helped me out, but the new edition made all the right changes...It even helps you out with understanding what computer to get, I wish I had known that three years ago!
Rating: Summary: Lots of great advice Review: the main problem I had with other "college survival books" were that they all induced the "DUH" response from me. don't let your grades drop. use effective study techniques. there may be tensions between you and your roommate. DUH. this kind of information is common sense, the things I knew and anticipated in the first place.this book packs a lot of advice and insights that I could actually USE.. a lot of the pages had me going "ooh, so THAT's what it is." or "hey, I always wanted to know that." as a freshman-to-be, i found htis book tremendously helpful and reassuring. I don't know if my opinion of this book will change after I actually experience my first year, but as of now I feel a lot safer, more confident and ready for next year. and that's exactly what I needed from a book like this.
Rating: Summary: A so so book. I wish I can give it 3.5 stars. Review: This book covers most of the basics of college life. No surprises. No big discoveries. However, chapters 12 (Computers at College)and 13 (The Internet) are outdated. These things are so basic to a typical high school students at this day and age that these two chapters are either unnecessary or very inadequate. Chapters 6 through 11 are pretty good.
Rating: Summary: LOADED! Review: This book is great! A true survival guide that addresses real concerns in a way that even I could laugh at them. If you like this book, you'll love "Major in Success." It changed my life.
Rating: Summary: This book is SO helpful! Review: This book is really helpful for the college-bound senior and for freshmen in college. I particularly enjoyed the segment on roommates, which, as an only child, was a big concern for me! Great balance of advice on academics, dorm life, and social life. The authors obviously know what they're talking about.
Rating: Summary: A waste Review: This book was of no use to me. It's corny
