Rating: Summary: Simple language, yet complicated ideas. Review: I borrowed this book from the local British Council library. This book is recommended to the local upper secondary school students. (Grade 9 and 10) The book is in very simple easy-flowing language. However, the idea is complicated. The author has a magic way to make the story interesting. The author is also able to put on readers' thinking caps. "What would I do, if I were in such a situation?" was the quesiton that I often asked myself as I read on. The story starts with a conflict and ends in an open-ended way: it gives readers spaces to think. The book is a good guide to teenagers who are in love. It alert them how much trouble pre-marrital sex can bring. It also serves as a good guide to show teenagers who are pregnant at such early ages what to do. It is also a good guide book for parents who are living with teenagers. The book helps parents understand what the teenagers of the new century are thinking so that they can get closer to their sons or daughters. Anyway, this is a book that is very easy to read. It is just about 200 pages, so it won't take a lot of time. Enjoy your reading!
Rating: Summary: Dear Nobody Review: I just finished the novel "Dear Nobody" by Berlie Doherty. It is a story of two high school seniors that fall in love. The girl- Helen or "Nell"- gets pregnant near the beginning of the book. This book is a collection of her letters to her unborn child and also Chris's side of the story. Nell's feelings towards her unborn child change from hate to love throughout the book. She and Chris must make decisions with maturity that they weren't meant to make at such a young age. I loved it!
Rating: Summary: Dear Nobody Review: I just loved this book. It makes unaware teenagers of the real-life issues that we are always on the ledge about. We, as teenagers, think that just one time won't hurt. However, this book makes us realize that actions of two minutes, as is most of the case, can effect the rest of our life. The other issues that are faced, such as Chris's mom, are very real. The author gets deep into the emotions of Chris and Helen. As another reader complained of Helen's whining, it sounded to me that helen is really just expressing her emotions with no one to turn to, I think that I would respond the same way. I love it, it must get a five star, it's one of the best books I have ever read. I think that all teenagers should read this book, in order to understand that the whole two to three minutes of pleasure, can put all of your life on the back burner.

Rating: Summary: good book, very thoroughly written without cliches Review: I like the book that is so well written that one can see and feel the characters change throughout the novel.I guess it is very hard to write about such a delicate subject without intruding into people's privacy too much. Doherty successfully does this, I believe. However, I' m not so sure if the fact that Chris is the main character in the book -instead of Helen- is believable; yet I like the idea of making him the main character so that young men feel it is also a book for them.
Rating: Summary: It was wonderful! Review: I like to read, down to Earth books. Like stuff that can really happen to you. This book describes the hardships of un-wanted pregnancy very well, and gets you thinking. I was happy to read it, and you will be too. :)
Rating: Summary: It's like real life!! Review: I read this book during this last school year just because it was the first book that I grabbed. On the first page I couldn't put it down. It realted to some of my friends. It's a terrific book for a boy or girl to read! Read it now, or you will regret it.
Rating: Summary: A very realistic story Review: I thought that the novel "Dear Nobody" was a very outstanding book of a pregnant teenager who was very confused. The two main characters of this book are Chris and Helen. Helen and Chris are both seniors, during the school year Helen becomes pregnant with Chris's baby and is left to make a decision on what to do with the unborn baby. She is pressured greatley by her non-understanding mother to have a abortion. Throughout the book Helen writes letters to her unborn baby about her most personal thought. This book to me gives a great perspective of a teenage girl, going through very confusing issues and how she deals with the changes her body is going through. The author does a termendous job of stating realistic facts. The novel is always leaving you wondering what is going to happen next. I never knew if Chris and Helen would stay together or not. I gave "Dear Nobody" four stars because it was well written and a great book to read, but it was drug out in some places.
