Rating: Summary: A Young Prince Condemned To Death By a Bandit... Review: Like books that are filled with action and romance, but couldn't find a selection? Well, than read The Remarkable Journey of Prince Jen! Lloyd Alexander has once again proved himself a champion author this fantasy novel. The plot is drawn with vivid colors: a courageous prince goes on a quest with his servant to go from Chang'an, the old Chinese capital (remember, this story takes place in ancient China) to Tien Kuo, a legendary kingdom to learn the ways of how the wise king there governs his kingdom so well. Along the way, the prince befriends a flute girl, a mad robber, and more. He also meets a few enemies. Well, more accurately, lots of enemies. I just adore the way Lloyd keeps me sweating a mile a minute at the end of each chapter. I also like the way the words draw pictures in my mind. I guarantee that you will read this book in ecstasy until the end. I think this is the best book the author has ever written. Congratulations, Mr. Alexander!
Rating: Summary: a different kind of fable Review: Lloyd Alexander has written a fairytale in novel form. It is reminiscent of Arabian Nights stories, but it is set in China. At the end of each chapter is a group of the questions that have been left unanswered. This adds to the style or is an annoyance, depending on how you look at it. Fans of Alexander's Pyrdain Chronicles may be interested in this alternative, although it is not as engaging.
Rating: Summary: Good-But not Prydain Review: Prince Jen's story is engaging, and funny. It is well-written, and the characters are interesting, but it can get tedious in places. Overall I would recommend it to Lloyd Alexander fans, but it does not rise to the beauty and power of Prydain. (Which I've read 14 times).

Rating: Summary: The Journey to Tien-kou Review: The Remarkable Journey of Prince Jen, by Lloyd Alexander book is a fantasy about the journey of a young prince. The main character is a young man by the name of Prince Jen. Prince Jen is a very kind person. He is so kind that he gave away all the 5 gifts to 5 different people who needed them, instead of giving them to Yuan-Ming. There were 6 gifts, but Natha Yellow Scarf stole a sword. The story happened in China during the period of the Kingdom of T'ang. This book is about Prince Jen on a journey to the legendary court of Tien-kuo. On the way to Tien-kou Jen meets new friends like Moxa and Voyaging Moon. They get into gigantic trouble. One of Prince Jen's troubles is Natha Yellow Scarf. Natha Yellow Scarf is a bandit in the Kingdom of T'ang. He is a bad because he steals very valuable items like a magic sword that was supposed to be given to Yuan-Ming. I want to recommend this book because I like the story. The story is very exciting at the ending.

Rating: Summary: The kids will beg to keep reading! Review: This delightful tale set in Ancient China during the Tang Dynasty depicts the story of a young prince setting out for his first journey into the world. He embarks with a cache of oddly plain gifts destined to convince the leader of a supposed utopian kingdom to reveal his secrets for success. Along the way, the prince faces various hardships that challenge his strength and unveil a greater person inside than he knew existed. Hilarious humor and sarcasm are interspersed throughout the captivating dialogues. My kids would never let me put it down without an appeal for "just one more chapter - pppppplllllleeeeeeeeaaase!"
Rating: Summary: Prince Jen Review: This is a must puchase book. It has adventure, romance, comedy and much much more.
Rating: Summary: The Prince and his Kind Heart Review: This is a well-written book about Prince Jen, the prince from the kingdom of T'ang, who volunteered to find the kingdom of T'ien-ku and figure out the secrets of how the king there governed his kingdom so everyone would happy. On his journey there, Prince Jen brought along six gifts for the king, but loses them all because of his kind heart. I think this story could have been a Chinese legend because of the magical parts. If there weren't any of the magical parts, I would have assumed that it was written in a fictionalized form of a part in Chinese history.
Rating: Summary: I Love This Book!!! Review: This is the first book I ever read of Lloyd Alexander and I have loved it ever since. I enjoy the way each of the seemingly worthless gifts are infact so special and important.
