Summary: Hictoric and wonderful!
Review: I really loved this book! Since I love to read I have read it 2 times. Ann Rinaldi made me see all of the parts and think I was there. The book Is about a Girl named Becca who goes to work at the Shippen house as Peggy's maid. She has almost no friends except Coxie. Peggy bosses her around and has horrible tantrums. it seems like all she ever wants is MONEY. At first she is being courted by Captian Andre who treats Becca like a slave. Then it seems like Peggy dumps him and starts courting BENIDICT ARNOLD who treats Becca even worse! They get married (Peggy and Benidict) and Becca goes to live with them. Then she eavesdrops and is caught and fired. The epologue tells the rest. I would reccomend this to EVERYBODY! It's amazing!

Summary: Finishing Becca
Review: I think that the book Finishing Becca by Ann Rinaldi is very interesting. Ann makes you feel as if you were there experiencing what Becca was. This book has just enought romance, history, and adventure to satisfy almost any reader.

Summary: Great example for a historical fiction.
Review: I thought that Finshing Becca by Ann Rinaldi was a very interesting book. It was a great example of a good historical fiction novel. I think that if you just picked up a history book and started to read about Benedict Arnold it wouldn't be as interesting. This book is a good book for people who dislike learning history from the textbook, or have trouble paying attention when learning from a textbook. The book gave a wonderful inside view into the characters, historical and non-historical. It gave a background look into what the characters were like away from the history book. Ann Rinaldi did a wonderful job and I know her other works are going to be great too. I highly recommend this book to anyone who gets bored easily by history books and still would like to learn some history.

Summary: Suspenseful, Yet Slow
Review: In the suspenseful novel, Finishing Becca, author Ann Rinaldi entails an intriguing fictional tale with informative historical information. Early on, Rinaldi describes life for the average people in the colonies during the Revolutionary War. Becca Syng, the main character, and her family live on a small farm in Pennsylvania. Becca's mother is a proper woman, who sends Becca away to live in the Shippen household to become "finished." As Becca becomes finished, she witnesses so many events that change history forever. I found the book to be a real page turner, however its said to be a tale of Benedict Arnold, and as he came into the story the suspense died and the reading was slow. The first half of the book is very suspenseful, but seems to take forever before Benedict Arnold comes into the plot. Overall this book is suspenseful and interesting, however, it has its low points. I reccomend this book to someone who thoroughly enjoys historical fiction, or someone using it for a book report.

Summary: Well written, but . . .
Review: It seemed to me that this book was too much of a historical book. That is, when you were reading it, you kept on remembering that it was a 'historically correct' story. I think that a really good historical book would make it seem like you were living in those times, which this book undoubtedly didn't. This book made me feel as if I was looking at a different time, instead of living in that time. Still, the plot was relatively good and I enjoyed reading about Peggy, the spoiled society belle.

Summary: Finishing Becca: A True Bedside Companion
Review: Rinaldi has really done it again in this beautiful retelling of the story of Peggy Shippen and Benedict Arnold. The story's charecters are portrayed in a vivid, believable form and the story is moving, well-written and historically correct.

Summary: A great depiction of life during the Revolutionary War.
Review: Set in Philadelphia during the Revolutionary War, Ann Rinaldi's Finishing Becca tells the story of a young girl that is struggling to find her missing pieces. Young Becca Syng's family has fallen on hard times so she is sent to be the personal maid of the most spoiled Quaker girl in Philadelphia, Peggy Shippen. She learns more in the house of the Shippen's then she ever thought she would. The main reason Becca took the job was to get a finishing that would normally take place at a finishing school, but her family does not have the money to send her to one. With the war all around Peggy she still manages to have a huge social life. Her life is filled with balls, dances, dress fittings, and flirting with all the British troops that occupy the city. The center of her flirtations is British Captain Andre. Becca is for the American's. Her brother is with Washington at Valley Forge. Becca finds out how much you expect when you are a spoiled little brat. Peggy's dad is losing money because he has chosen to stay neutral during the war. She doesn't care that his fortune is decreasing, and keeps asking him for more money to get dresses. When Peggy doesn't get want she wants she throws huge fits breaking many things in her bedroom. One of her biggest fits is when she is prohibited from going to the ball in British General Howe's honor because the dresses are inappropriate. She refuses to see Captain Andre when he comes to visit her the day after the ball. Soon after Andre is sent to another city, she corresponds with him through letters. After the British have left the city and the American's begin to occupy it again, Peggy turns her flirtations to General Benedict Arnold. Becca witnesses Peggy turn Benedict against his country and help the British. Becca does learn many finishing school things from Peggy's mother and sisters. This is a great book if you have any interest in the Revolutionary War or young girls in history. It is a book that once you start you don't want to put it down.

Summary: A sure-fire winner!
Review: There's not much I can say about 'Finishing Becca' except that it was one of the most enthralling books I've read.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Excellent read, very historically accurate
Review: This book had enough history to keep me informed and interested. However, it was also extremely relevant and real to me. I thought the romance between Becca and the hired hand was absolutely wonderful. If you like historical fiction, definately try this one.
