Summary: Powerful and inspirational
Review: This book describes the life and beliefs of a forgotten hero of the civil rights movement. I think it was an excellent book to read and one of the few that tell it like it is.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A document of unparalleled insight.
Review: Arguably Malcolm's greatest contribution lies with him leaving behind his story for us; it would be an understatement to say that this book completely altered my conception of the world.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: This is a sad, but true story and I love it

Summary: Inspirational and informative
Review: Malcolm X was a very intelligent man, even though his views were not always right. His book is inspiring to many people even though many people think that Malcolm X was a bad man. He wasn't at all. Somethings he did and said weren't right, but he was trying to protect his people. He went through many trials and tribulations growing up. He grew up to be a strong activist. This book is very inspiring. Some of things he did while growing up were wrong. After spending some time in prison Malcolm's life change a lot. He made such a impact on many lives.

Once you read this book you will get a different outlook on life. Malcolm's life in the book was built in stages, that way you could get a better understanding of what was going on. The autobiography was written that way it was better to understand what you read and what his surroundings was like.

Summary: A decent book.
Review: The book Malcolm X is an alright book. I did enjoy it, although some of it was kind of boring, but for the most part I did enjoy the book. I would recommend the book to other people. I had always heard about Malcolm but I never knew to much about him. But after reading this book I do know a lot more about the man they call Malcolm X. I like the book because it was about his life, how he lived it, what he did, not about some made up stuff that never happened. Its quite interesting how he was a criminal and then turned into a Muslim priest. It was a very descriptive book on his life, it told all the things he did. Another point I like about it is it was an interview, it was not some guy writing a book on what he thought about Malcolm X, it was a book about his actual life. I would recommend that if you have any interest in Malcolm's life than you should read this book.

Summary: THE MOST IMPORTANT BOOK AFTER BIBLE
Review: I'd read the book allready in german ('cause I'am german) and can't stop reading it again and again. If you read it carefuly and open your mind to it's massage it will change your life. Only one other book can change lifes the bible the real words of the living god. The message of gods word will change your life for the eternaty your life after death, but Malcolms message change your life here and your relationship to other people and peoples. Behonestly and check your mind the real reasons of your behavior. In every case if you are W.M., Y.M., R.M. or B.M (if you're withe or colored) Dennis Michalke

Summary: A real eye-opener to anyone who thought they knew who X was!
Review: It was amazing to read such a fully formed (and true) story of anger, betrayal, and change. Very few readers of my generation know much about the man known as Malcolm X, and this book tells all, from early childhood to death. Alex Haley did an outstanding job of transforming interview notes into a first-person autobiographical account.

Summary: The best depiction of the times Written..Malcom is eloquent
Review: When I originally became interested in reading this book, I wasn't sure what I would find. I expected to unearth racial doctrines, and reiterated black power. What I found instead was the tender, intelligent voice of an entire generation of african americans. Indeed the eloquent Malcom X, using Alex Haley, as his microphone took me through the story of his life, and of his times. A must read for anyone pursuing history, philosophy, humanities, or Life.

Summary: An excellent book and truly an american classic!
Review: Alex Haley does an excellent job in describing the life of a controversial man. Haley produces a book that is a must read for every educated person in America. Haley writes about Malcolm X with honesty and candor. The reader will find the book to be meaningful in understanding how Malcolm X became a victim of racism and religious fanatism. Malcolm X made significant changes in his ideaology and views regarding the nation of Islam. This book is enlightening and powerful.

Summary: The greatest book ever to be published.
Review: After first hearing of the man in my sixth grade history book, I decided to learn more about him and his achievements. (The history book only presented a small paragraph on the man.) I feel the history books of the American "Education" system reflects a bias on the accomplishments of African Americans, by only mentioning a small poprotion of the achievemetns into their books. Yet, we know Lincoln lived in a small cabin home and Washington chopped down an apple tree. One has to teach themselves to obatin a true essence of their culture. Thus, I picked up this book and have never been the same since. It created an ideal that I was not familiar to. It assessed the ideal of self confidence in self and culture. His words, translated through the genius of Alex Haley, displayed the thoughts and experiences of a true individual. Unlike the tailored made American Heroes we have been taught to admire, El Hajj Malik El Shabazz was a realist. He represented the truth.
