Rating: Summary: My favorite young adult novel Review: I've read teen novels by Judy Blume, and I've read adult romances by Nora Roberts, and this is hands-down the one I've kept through the years from either genre. It's a must as a love story; it's about lords and ladys, inn-keepers and slaves -- it's a magical adventure that young or old can appreciate. My book is worn out and dog-eared from reading, but I refuse to give it up or away. It's got all the romance of movies like "Ever After" and "Princess Bride". I'd put it in every children's library and I plan on giving it to all my future daughters and nieces.
Rating: Summary: You Can Only Roll Up on the Lady Fortune's Wheel-Read This! Review: My sister Amanda recommended this book to my sister Sarah and she recommended it to me. I can do no less than recommend it to everyone else. This is a good book for anyone- guy or girl. The adventure is amazing... the love story rarely matched. This story really does capture you. I read all 402 pages in less than 24 hours and I do have a life. It just gets cut off when I find such a book. Birle is a 14-year-old girl just like me. Only I wouldn't be getting married to anyone let alone some one as horrid as who she was engaged to. But I would fall in love just as easily as she did to the handsome lord. And in her situation I definately would have run away as fast. The rest of the story was tied to the Lady Fortune's wheel so can't be foretold but if any kind of action and/or love intrests you, read this book. Be prepared to fall in love whether you want to or not.
Rating: Summary: On Fortune's Wheel Review: My teacher got me to read this book. Once I got it in my hands, I couldn't put it down till I knew how Birle and Oriel end up. It's about an innkeeper's daughter named Birle who sneaks out at night to find a shadowy figure stealing a boat. She follows him and ends up traveling with him. This book twists and turns as Birle finds true love in Oriel, a lord. If you like romance, adventure, and books that keep you turning the pages in suspence, then On Fortune's Wheel is for you!
Rating: Summary: A young woman's review Review: Of all the books in Cynthia Voigt's Kingdom series, "on Fortune's Wheel" has always been my favorite. It is a very good story about growing up. Voigt introduces Birle as a rather immature young woman with a lot of growing up to do. She has promised to marry Muir, and she isn't ready. Even she realizes this when she meets Orien. Her stubborn insistence that he allow her to serve him as he journeys away from the kingdom into the unknown proves the be the very thing that leads to her gaining the knowledge she needs to properly grow up. As a slave, she learns that life was not so bad with Nan as a mother figure. By the time she manages to escape that life she has learned the value of hard work and friendship. I think it is because of those hard earned lessons that she is able to win Orien's heart in the end.
Rating: Summary: REALLY, REALLY great book! Review: Oh, I totally love this book! It is so realistic, and so well-written! Birle ( such a cute ( I would consider it French, but I could be wrong ) name ). Okay, back to Birle- Birle is a sweet girl with wit, humor, but she can just jump before looking, but anyway, she is just a great person. Orien is a royal, but he was going to steal a boat, for some stupid reason, like he's got money, why can't he just buy himself a boat. Anyway.... Birle sees someone stealing her family's boat so she tries to stop them, but decides to run away with the hottie. So she is instantly in love, and he is instantly interested in her. One thing leads to another, and they go through one thing after another, until they both realize they are meant to be together. But, Birle becomes unhappy, for reasons you'll know once you read the book, and she leaves Orien. Don't take this book as a sad book, because I only read happy, fairy-tale ending stories, and trust me, this book ends on a happy, romantic happily-ever-after note. And if you don't like happy endings- good endings, then...well.. find some other unhappy depressing book to read. Anyway, this is a great, good book to read. And rather long.
Rating: Summary: a great book Review: On Fortune's Wheel by Cynthia Voigt was an amazing book. Cynthia Voigt's characters were believable, compelling, and well thought out. The plot is exciting yet *romantic*, surprising, and convincing. I was drawn into the story, interested, and attached to the characters. The ending made me cry... and then there was a surprise which tied it all together! I recommend this book to anyone who is interested in romance, fantasy, or enthralling stories of slaves, Earls and their Ladies, and compelling characters.

Rating: Summary: The Perfect Romance/Adventure Story Review: The romance between Birle, a 14-year-old girl unsatisfied with the turns her life is taking, and Orien, a lord running from his past, is unconventional and yet perfect. Birle loves Orien from the beginning, but he turns her away, calling her a silly little girl. But after they experience many hardships together (near starvation on a deserted beach, slavery, escape from slavery), Birle and Orien realize that they cannot run from the turns of fortune's wheel, and that they were destined to be together
Rating: Summary: Just as good as Jackaroo and then some! Review: This book is even more exiciting than Jackaroo! It tells the story of (once again) the inkeepers daughter. But when Brile finds a mysterious man trying to take one of her ships she attacks him but dosen't manage to stop him. And she is immeaditally thrown into a new life where everything has changed, and all she knows may be the only thing that will keep her alive. What's in store for the inkeepers daughter? I reccomend this book highly.
