Rating: Summary: The most beautiful adventure/romantic story Review: 14 year old Birle is about to be married to her fiance, Muir. When one night she hears someone and sees a figure and many things run threw her mind. She goes after the figure and ends up in the boat with it. In the morning, when the figure is still sleeping with his arm over his head. When he wakes up and they become friends, they tell stories. She then finds out that he is Orien, the next in line to be the Earl. They go through hard adventures (stranded on a deserted island, slavery, escaping) But otherwise, they found that they were meant for each other and at the end of the book, what Orien does I think is the sweetest thing
Rating: Summary: One great adventure! Review: All I knew when I first picked this book up was that 14-year-old Birle, an Innkeeper's Daughter, and a 19-year-old lord (soon to be Earl) named Orien were to have many adventures together, and there would be romance. I was pretty disappointed that there was not near as much romance as I thought there would be. However, it was still an EXCELLENT book, stuffed full of adventure! Birle and Orien encounter pirates, who sell them and cause the two to become separated. Then both of them plan to escape from their masters and head back to the Kingdom. The only problem was that I had difficulty understanding at some parts who "Jackaroo" was, which is the title of the book before this, which I have not read.
I definitely recommend reading this book, it was so interesting!
Rating: Summary: Amazing Fantasy Review: Although it's been a long time since I've gotten to enjoy this book, On Fortune's Wheel is an amazing fantasy story that geos so far beyond Cinderella. A great story for all ages, adults and children alike can understand and enjoy this great book.
Rating: Summary: I Read This Out Loud From New Jersey to Florida Review: And know one in the car got bored. We never stopped, no matter how hungry we were or how badly we had to go because it meant interrupting the story. When it was finished, no one knew what to say. Everyone agreed it was one of the best stories we ever read, smart and cathartic. Thank you Cynthia Voigt!
Rating: Summary: Voight does it again! Review: Beautifully written. This book can be devoured or chewed thoughtfully. I suggest first one then the other. The characters are captivating, and utterly real. Voight does some of the best characterization you'll find anywhere, not just the main characters but also the supporting characters. Even people who appear on one page of the book she draws so well you can see them clearly. This book contrasts beauty with sorrow, and explores subtlely the age-old question of why bad things happen to good people and vice versa. The analogy of Fortune's Wheel is especially appealing. The ending, however, left me drained and a little unsatisfied. I'm not sure how I would change it, but the first half of the book is by far my favorite part. Overall, one of the best books I've ever read.
Rating: Summary: A Grand Adventure Review: Birle is tired of living the laborous and boring life of an innkeeper's daughter. One night she attemps to stop a man from stealing one of the village's fishingboat. From there she is dragged down river where she loses her heart to the young lord. They are marooned in a rocky cove after a violent storm and are rescued by pirates who sell them into slavery. Seperated they live as slaves. They escape and return home where Orien (the lord) takes his place as earl. Birle tires and leaves. loyalty and true love wins in the end. A nice set of characters. A great string of events ties the story together nicely and provides a entertaining plot. A great story for those who like reading fantasy.
Rating: Summary: I totally enjoyed this book-I couldn't put it down! Review: Birle, the inkeepers daughter, mistakes Orien, the future earl, as a theif and they begin a marvelous adventure with pirates, slavery, and romance. I highly recomend this book, it was written very well.
Rating: Summary: A great book with a new, different story Review: Cynthia Voight's on Fortune's Wheel is a wonderfully written book. It tells a great story and is definitely worth reading all of the 402 pages. The only reason I gave it 4 stars was because it did get slow and boring during some points, but you just have to bear along with it. Its ending is also good, though not detailed enough for people who want to know everything that happened. It is a good read, and very different from the usual Midevial princess stories.
Rating: Summary: On Fortune's Wheel, a book full of treasure Review: Cynthia Voigt did a wonderful job with this book! It's a wonderful story about an innkeepers daughter and the man who woudlt be the Earl Sutherland. When Birle (the inkeepers daughter) first meets Orien (the Earl Sutherland) she thinks he is a theif. She follows him, and gets herself caught up in his adventures. She also falls in love with him . After many trials, they make thier way back to his castle, somewhat dishivled and well, married. She leaves so he can have a regular court life where she's not there to hamper him, but in the end, true love conquers all.
Rating: Summary: Entertaining Review: Cynthia Voigt has another winner here although it is not as captivating the her "Dicey" series. This talented writer knows how to grab and hold her reader's attention. I intend to continue reading each book she pens. ...
