Summary: not appropriate for ten year olds....
Review: Our family bought this book on the strength of the Newbery Medal. After reading the first twelve chapters, we stopped abruptly because the story was not appropriate for our ten and eleven year olds. The combination of a fourteen year old girl, having a crush on a seventy year old man and an evil, evil, grandmother accusing her granddaughter of murder was too much. This book may be appropriate older teens, but the story line is contrived and does not ring true. Why the book received a Newbery Medal is a mystery to us.

Summary: For all Future Mother
Review: This book is talking about family relationship through Sara Louise's feelings and thoughts through her life with her twin sister, Charoline. She always feels like she is a shadow of her sister. She always feels nobody loves her, and it makes her a negative person. When I read this book, I felt very upset for her parents. My mother always said, "If you marry and have some children, you must show your love 100% to each, not thirty for one, seventy for another. If you don't show your love 100%, children have lack of love syndrome, and they will have some trouble themselves." I think it is true. This book is a good example. I want to recommend this book for all future mothers. If you read this book, you can learn how children feel when they don't receive love from their family.

Summary: Time is money!!
Review: I am impressed by how this author can explain people's feelings very well. However, those techniques made me depressed. This book, "Jacob Have I Loved," makes me confused and very sad! The main heroine, Wheeze, is a pessimist because her twin sister, Caroline, who is nice and beautiful, took everything from Wheeze's life (she thinks this way). For example, Wheeze's best friend proposed to her twin sister Caroline. Also one of their friends wanted to give a scholarship to Caroline not Wheeze. So, I had to read about her inferiority complex and weakness. This is a waste of time for me! If Wheeze changes her negative thoughts, she will be able to be thankful for her life, family, and good friends. Maybe Wheeze could marry her best friend too. I didn't want to read this book; however, my English class had to read it. If I could have stopped reading, I would have done it!!! If you are not American, I don't want to recommend that you buy this book. I promise it is a waste of money for you!

Summary: Jacob have I loved...
Review: "Jacob have I loved" is a book which helps you find yourself. Sarah Louise (one of the characters) has a twin, Caroline. Even though they have the same amount of demonstration about how much their parents love them, Sarah thinks that no one cares about her. Because for her, Caroline is the perfect girl who has all the attention. Sarah's best friend is Call. He is a fat guy who hates Sarah's jokes. He thinks that her jokes don't make sense. One day a Captain arrived to the island with whom Sarah began to fall in love with. I think that this book teaches you that if you want to succeed in life you can do it. It doesn't matter if you think that other people are better than you. Because, no one can be good in everything. And you can succeed because you have the ability and the courage to do it.

Summary: jacob have i loved
Review: Sarah Louise tells us her story throughout many of her experiences in her life. She is a twin and her sister, unfortunately for her, is better in many ways. She is talented, beautiful, and besides that she does everything right. Everybody loves her. It seems that no one pays attention to what Sarah does. Call is her best friend; together they catch crabs in the ocean. He doesn't really like her jokes and he thinks they are dumb. One day, a captain came to the island, and she started to love him. With all these adventures I think this is what makes this book a really good book. I think that you can

Summary: 5 Star Book!
Review: Sarah Lousie Bradshaw lives in the shadow of her beautiful twin sister, Caroline. Since they were born, Caroline has always stole from Louise; their parent's love for Louise, her hopes for a better education, even her best- and only- friend, McCall Prunell. Then, Captain Hiram Wallace moves onto their island and makes everyone suspicoius of his true person. Along with all this confusion, World War II had started and the nation was put in danger. This book was very touching. It reminded me that, like Louise, I felt that my parents loved my sister more than me. So now I understand that my sister and I are loved equally.

Summary: GREAT
Review: 'Jacob have I loved, but Eseau have I hated'. Sara Louise a.k.a. Wheezie looks at herself as Eseau, and her younger twin sister Caroline as Jacob. Caroline was born a couple of minutes after Wheezie, and has taken everything from her. Caroline gets special treatment from her parents and Grandma, everyone worries about her, she gets the chance of the schooling that Wheezie has always dreamed of, and makes Wheezie feal inferior. However, lfe on Rass Island for Sara Louise is still bearable; she has a very special frind (even though the 2 are complete opposites), Call. But when Caroline steals even that from Wheezie, she feals it's time to move on... This is a wonderful book and i recomend anyone should read it, though it's really sad (i cry in at least 5 spots every time).

Summary: THE BEST BOOK I HAVE READ IN MY LIFE....
Review: Jacob Have I Loved is the absolute best book that I have ever read. I gave a copy to my friend, and she didn't want to give it back! I reccomend this book for ages 8/9 and up. Jacob have I loved is about a 13 year old girl who is overshadowed by her sister. Everything she wants is given to Caroline, who takes it all for granted. She is not mean, but she is perfect. Read this book! You won't be dissapointed!

Summary: The Selfish Perspective
Review: How would Esau describe his relationship with his twin Jacob? That is one way (of many, many ways) to read this book. I'm currently doing a research paper on this book, and the amount of thought Paterson put into this book is humbling. The characters, especially the main character, Sara Louise, are very true-to-life. Their home, the fictional Rass Island, is also very realistic. Every time I put this book down, I feel as if I could go out on the water and be a crabber or oysterer, because Rass is so well researched and described. Thank you, Mrs. Paterson, for writing such a real and relevant book.

Summary: Jacob have I Loved
Review: Jacob I have Loved is a tale about love and finding who you are. The main character is Sarah Louise, a tom-boy. She lives on in island named Rass with whom she shares her thoughts and feelings with. Her twin sister Caroline, her friend Call, the Captain, and her Grandma are a few of the many characters in this book. I recommend this book to anyone who loves a book of meaning.
