Rating: Summary: A bombing of mystery that never ends. Review: I read The Terrorist by the best-selling author, Caroline B. Cooney, who may best be known for her book, The Face on the Milk Carton . Mrs. Cooney writes many heart gripping stories . The story is told by Laura Williams who has just moved from Massachusetts in the United States of America to London, England. She and her family are just beginning to adjust to the customs of their new home. Did I mention that Laura has a brother named Billy? Although they are very close, they have their differences . For example, Billy is interested in collecting fancy toilet paper. He also likes to collect American treats and show them off at his culturally mixed school. The big and important difference between the siblings is the way they get to the London International Academy each day. Laura catches the bus with her friends and Billy takes the Underground, (Subway) with two of his friends . One day, while Billy steps from the train, his friends run ahead. Someone then hands him a package saying that his friends had dropped it. Billy quickly realizing that it is a bomb, wraps himself around the package and it explodes . Killed instantly, Billy saved many lives. At home Laura learns that her brother has been killed by a bomb. She 3flips2 out and thinks that everyone is a suspect in the killing, especially her friends . In actuality these friends are worried about her . Many accusations are made and none are proven . To find out who did it you1ll have to read The Terrorist . This two-hundred page book is not only very interesting, but it is also different from other books because the most exciting incident happens in the first twenty pages . The crisis and exciting parts are usually in the middle of the book. The reader wonders if each of the suspects is guilty and how he/she could be tied into the plot. For example, a friend of Laura is accused, and because he is from Israel, the reader thinks that he might be the killer. What is also interesting was that he wasn1t a legal citizen of England, but it turns out that he isn1t guilty. I would suggest this book for fifth graders to college. The Terrorist is too difficult for third graders because they wouldn1t get the complicated plot. For adults I do not recommend it because it is short and the words are easy. To tell the truth I wouldn1t be surprised if the plot were to happen in reality because recently there have been bomb scares and racial prejudice. Hopefully, that is the author1s message - be careful in the ever changing world. Another message is that true friends comfort and help till the very end, and most importantly, your siblings are very important to you, your family, and should be treated like your best friend. The author also wanted to teach people that the British actually have different words for things. She threw in a couple words like, 3Ta, luv2 meaning thank you .

All her friends become enemies, and she wants to know who it was that killed Billy, and who is going to be their next victim. Caroline B. Rating: Summary: UGH...Disgusting Review: All I need to say about this book is that it is gross and the wrong persective of Muslims around the world! Well, DUH... there are good and bad people everywhere and this book makes it look like ALL Muslims are bad -- WRONG -- This book is stupid, it shows how ignorant Caroline B. Cooney is. I hate this book and I dont understand how people can read it and STILL like and BELIEVE it! Dont even bother to read this book!
Rating: Summary: The Terrorist Review: Laura Williams is a high school junior. Her family moved to London, England five months ago. Her life takes a dramatic turn when her younger brother Billy is killed by a package bomb. Laura thinks everyone is a suspect, even her friends from school. She is determined not to let the killer(s) go unpunished. Jehran, a friend of Laura's, asks her for something of Billy's and the story takes yet another mysterious turn. I picked up this book because at the time, the World Trade Center bombing was fresh in my mind and terrorism was the headline in every newscast. The title made me think the book was about a life of a terrorist. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find out it was about the love a sister has for her brother. I liked how the author used Laura to tell you about Billy. It was conversational...like me talking about my brothers. The reader learns what kind of person Billy was by Laura's descriptions of her brother's peculiar activities. The Terrorist is another suspenseful thriller by Cooney. Her series, Face on a Milk Carton, is just as unpredictable and a must read. I was lucky enough to meet the author, one of my favorites, when she visited \our town library.By: Elyse

Laura and her brother Billy attend L.A.I. an international school with kids of all different kinds of races. The students at this school realize the hatred around the world except Laura she thinks everybody is good. Laura doesn't hate anybody until her brother Billy is handed a package from a stranger who said " Your friend dropped this" in the train station on the way to school. Billy has always thought about terrorist and when his family and him were at the airport and they cant leave luggage to long or it will be suspicious but by the time he realized this it was to late. He shielded the people around him from the bomb but he was dead. All the sudden Laura realizes all the hatred and terrorism around her. Laura is out to find her brothers murderer no matter what. This book is a four star book. The part I liked the most was it starts out with action in the first chapter and you don't have to wait until the third or fourth chapter for action. Also this author really has a great detail and it helps you visualize what she is saying. This book also relates to what is going on in the world at this time. It gives you a feeling of what the families attacked by terrorist might go through, and how things might turn out. It is very action packed with excitement in every page.

Rating: Summary: One Word...Great! Review: I didn't know what to expect when I picked this up from the library, but what I found was a surprisingly good story about a girl trying to solve the mystery of her younger brother's murder. The death changes her family's life drastically, and Laura warily tries to find a friend to comfort her as she weeds through suspects and tries to pull her life back together. I found the end unsatisfying, but the story is exciting and may even bring you to tears.
Rating: Summary: "Everyone is a suspect." Review: On his way to school one day, 11-year-old Billy Williams is handed his death in the subway--a bomb concealed in a package. Following his death, his family (Americans living in London, England)--as well as the city--are on guard and afraid. His 16-year-old sister, Laura Williams, who becomes the main character of the book, obsesses over this terrorist act, thinking: "What if Billy's killer was somebody at school? Somebody right here at L.I.A. [London International Academy]?" And so begins her investigation into her brother's tragic death. However, the book kind of detours from her quest about halfway through, when one of Laura's Moslem girl friends begs her to help her run away from her strict family. Yet "The Terrorist" is just as gripping and realistic as some of Cooney's other books, like her Janie series (which I really liked). It has a great deal of impact on everyone since it focuses on global terrorism, a topic that has been rampant in the news for a long time. But aside from the serious part of the story, "The Terrorist" is a good intro to English culture--as well as other cultures--as seen through the eyes of an American family. It's a very insightful and fast-paced book (I read it in one day), though the bad guy is kind of obvious. Recommended to Cooney fans.
