Summary: Crown of Columbus proves thrilling yet educational
Review: In Crown of Columbus, Erdrich created a thrilling novel around historical information regarding Columbus. She further explored many of the cultural perspectives about the meaning of Columbus and particularly looked at Columbus' meaning to many Native Americans. In addition to the educational and historical perspective, she created characters who were real and complex. Erdrich also developed a suspensful end to the story which proved somewhat predictable but none-the-less made the book difficult to put down.

Summary: dragging and hard to get into
Review: This book was one of the worst I have read. I was expecting more of a historical novel, then what it really was. There should have been more historical scenes than there were. I was under the impression that this book contained similar events to Micheal Dorris and Louise Erdrich's immigrant background. I feel that the authors tried to make the plot more interesting by turning it into a love story, but really all they did was make it drag on. The book was slow and there was not enough excitment to keep me interested, until the ending. The last 100 pages of the book were the best and very surprising. If the entire book was like the ending, then it would probably be worth the time to read it.
