Review: I think the book Julie of the Wolves was a good book. I liked the part when she became a wolf in the pack. Her leader was named Amaroq, and he had three pals. Their names are Silver,Jello, and Nails! I like Jello, because of his name. Silver, and Nails are cool names too.

Summary: This is a very exciting book!!!
Review: I really liked this book. I've read it before. I liked it because Julie is brave and kind. She and her wolves survive on a cold tundra which is amazing, I think. It also teaches the Eskimo ways and traditions. They are very interesting. All in all it was a pretty good book!

Summary: Not detailed enough!
Review: When I read this book, I had a very hard time seeing it. The detail was very poor. If it were more detailed, I would have given it four stars.I also cuoldn't get into the characters very well. The story was nice though!

Summary: A survival story for young-adult readers.
Review: This is a story about a 13 year old Eskimo girl who is struggling for survival with the help of a pack of wolves and the teachings of her father. She encounters many dangers during her journey. It's an OK book.

Summary: This is a really good book.
Review: This is quite possibly the best book I've ever read. Other people in my class read it and they have the same opinion. Jean Craighead George writes this beautifully- very descriptive.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Not appropriate for young children
Review: The book is a wonderful coming of age story for the mature reader. Unfortunately, the book's cover gives no indication of the mature subject matter in part II. Prepubescent Julie is the victim of a relationship that would get the perpertrator a nice long jail sentence in our culture. The book unfortunately only describes the "act" but does not give a strong judgement against what has happened or even indicate that it was wrong. This would be a good assigned reading book for a discussion group on teen issues. .

Summary: Great survival story
Review: This is a great book, one of my favorites of all time. The way Julie communicates with wolves is fascinating and based on real wolf behavior. And if you like this book you will also really like "Island of the Blue Dolphins" by Scott O'Dell and "The Sacrifice" by Diane Matcheck. They are also excellent survival adventure stories about Indian girls.

Summary: This book is great for nature and animal lovers!
Review: Julie a smart, talented, young girl has to face the death of her mother and leave to live with her aunt because her father is not allowed to take care of her. While Julie is living with her aunt, she is told her father is dead. She is then sent off to be married to a boy named Daniel whom she has never met before. Julie's husband is upset because his friends are making fun of him because he cannot "mate with Julie." Daniel is mentally disabled and his speech is uneducated. Julie runs away to the Alaskan tundra. There, she makes a small home for herself and learns how to live with animals. Julie finds a wolf pack and is slowly accepted by them. Days and months have passed and Julie finds it is time to try to go back to her hometown, where she and her father used to live. She travels long and hard and finds her way to her old house. She knocks on the door and a tall man answers.

This book was exciting, and as Julie went through her adventures, the reader feels as though she might be going with Julie and experiencing her joy and her pain with her. If you like a little mystery, a good plot, great characters and a great adventure, you will love this book. This book really grabs your heart and soul

Summary: A great book for those who have ever felt they didn't belong
Review: At the age of thirteen, Miyax is running from an unbearable home situation. Miyax is traveling to Point Hope, where she will take a ship to San Francisco to live with her pen pal Amy. She treks across the frozen tundra of Alaska, fighting cruel winters and starvation. She befriends a pack of wolves on her journey. They take her in as one of them. Miyax loves the wolves and she uses her knowledge of wolves, handed down by her supposedly dead father to communicate them. She makes a meal out of anything... grass, leaves, berries. When it is time for the wolf pack to go on, Miyax is forced to continue her journey alone. While Miyax is subconsciously following the pack, she ponders on her life, during dark days and long sleepless nights, Miyax discovers that the Eskimo way of life is gone with the wind, only a few traces of her past life remain. In the middle of the 1900's Americans have Americanized the large state of Alaska, and the life of their ancestors is gone.

This book is a story of survival in the wilderness, of strong strength and the will to go on. This is a great book for individuals who are fascinated with wolves, and the Eskimos. This is a great story of imagination and life, a very spiritual and enriching book for anyone who has ever felt that they don't belong.
