Rating: Summary: You can really picture this book in your head Review: I submit this review from Angie Harrison, a student in my eighth-grade reading class. -- Robert L. Shepherd, teacher. Here's Angie's review: "This book is one of the books that you can really picture in your head. It's very detailed and graphic. Charlotte Doyle is a 13-year-old girl who is sent on a ship whose captain and crew were hired by her father. Charlotte at first likes the captain and despises the crew. Then some events happen, like murder and lies, that make Charlotte become a part of the crew. The captain is sneaky but intelligent and is able to convince the crew that Charlotte killed the first mate. This book is one that keeps you waiting for the next exciting thing that's going to happen." Angie Harrison
Rating: Summary: An exellent book, thrilling & mysterious, very well written Review: Captures your full attention, it's a real page turner. You become involved in this 13 year old girl's struggle to be accepted by the crew and the captain of the ship sailing to America. The crew is defient of the captain and therefore does not accept her for liking the captain. Her total image and beliefs change dramaticly and she is lost in confusion with what she wants to do and what she must do. Avi tells this story like no one else could, brilliantly written. One of my family's personal favorites. Interesting and intruiging for children as well as adults.
Rating: Summary: "A Truly Amazing book full of Adventure!" Review: The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle is a beautifuly written novel about a young girl named Charlotte Doyle on a ship sailing to her hometown from a school in England. When she boards the ship "The Seahawk" she is a prim, proper young lady, but during her two months at sea she, in the most amazing way, changes into the captain of the ship!
Rating: Summary: The True confessions of Charlotte Doyle was an awsome book!! Review: This book was absolutely awsome! When she first gets on the boat, she has no idea what kind of things will happen to her, or how she'll change and learn to love the sea. Then, during a storm, one of the crew members is killed, and Charlotte is blamed! And when brought to trial, found guilty! I loved this book
Rating: Summary: "BEST BOOK AVI EVER WROTE" "READ IT" Review: I have read hiss book 2 times an when ever I read it it always leaves me hanging of the edge of my very own seat even after I have read it twic
Rating: Summary: One of Avi's best books! Review: The story starts off a little strange, with clues that tie into the middle and end of the book. It is about a 13 year old girl set to sail from England to the United States in the 1800's on a ship called the Seahawk. This book has a mixture of weird characters, including a prissy young woman, an arrogant but kind (at sometimes) captain with a temper, a one-armed man, and a black cook that works on the ship. Throughout the stroy, you see how people can change so rapidly in only a couple of months and how not everything is how it appears. It has a great ending that you would have never guessed would have happened, but I won't ruin the ending for you. I would recomend this book to many people, because I really liked it
Rating: Summary: Twistable endings, sharp turns at the end of every chapter. Review: Avi, as usual, brings out the best and worst in Charlotte Doyle. It proves how a young, prissy, rich, young woman becomes a pirate on the seas. This wonderful text contains how a man was beaten. How life was on the seas, is what this book will notify you of. I recommend "The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle" to anyone who enjoys intense, exciting drama, with pirates and delightful fiction
