Summary: One of the best books I've ever read
Review: This was one of those books I had to read in school and at first I didn't really want to, but after I started reading it I couldn't put it down. We weren't supposed to read ahead but I had most of the book finished in two weeks (I did try to restrain myself). It had twists and turns in it I couldn't believe and the story really sucks you in, I felt almost as if I was with her a lot of the time. I am going to buy this for my sister and I might get a copy of my own, it's really great.

Summary: An Awsome Book!
Review: The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle is a great book for anyone who likes books that fall into the category of adventure. Charlotte is a passenger on the Seahawk, a boat leaving England in 1831. A series of events leaves Charlotte acused of murder. This book has alot of suspence in it. My only advice to you is to make sure you have alot of time on your hands to read this book, because it is VERY hard to put down. I am in fourth grade, and my friend has also read this book. I don't think that we are considered young adults, so therefore I don't think this book is just for young adults. I would definatly recommend this book.

Summary: What a disappointment!
Review: This historical mystery novel about a teenage girl travelling from England to America by sailing ship won a Newberry award and was well reviewed, so I had hoped for a work of quality liturature. I found the characterisations flat, the twists of the plot unbelivable, and the violence excessive and gratuitous. Worst of all, the book promotes a Marxist/radical-feminist agenda all the way to its surprise ending. The one positive thing I can say about it is that it gives a better description of how a sailing ship works than any other historical novel I know of. However, I would not recommend it to anyone.

Summary: Enjoyable for everyone!
Review: This book is good because it had a lot of detail, and that makes it seem so real. What I liked so much about it was that it left you on the edge of your seat. You couldn't tell what was going to happen next. For all that Avi has done with her talent, it is definitely worth the effort for the reader.

Summary: An adventurous, interesting, and entertaining book.
Review: The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle is a well written, exciting story. charlotte is a bit to naive to think the captain a good man, though. when Charlotte became part if the crew, the crew accepted her too fast and too well to be realistic. It is unrealistic because sailors and a higher society people did not associate with eachother. What skilled sailor would want an inexperienced girl become one of them? However it is an adventurous, interesting, and entertaining book. I enjoyed it a lot.

Summary: It is very well written, interesting and exciting!
Review: The True Confessons of Charlotte Doyle is an exciting sea story. Everything is described, so you get to know the ship and characters almost as if you had been present. Each character well suits the time period. The way their personalities clash and blend makes the book interesting. Surprising circumstances combine with non-stop action, making the story interesting. However, there are unrealistic parts, like when Charlotte shares the forecastle with the sailors. Girls of that time and now would not be safe doing that. She is naive in assuming that all gentlemen are trustworthy, all sailors wicked and lazy. It would be nice to have a colorful diagram of the Seahawk, including Charlotte's room. Over all, The True Confessons of Charlotte Doyle is a very good book!

Summary: This book is very exciting and suspenseful!
Review: The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle is a entertaining book. It is a story of a young girl from a wealthy family who sails to America alone. She is caught in a dangerous quarrel between the captain and the crew. She is very ladylike, naive, and not used to the crude ways of living ona ship. She gradually undergoes a change of attitude and learns more about people. The author describes his characters very well. Each character has the perfect attitude for the part they in the story. This book however, is very unrealistic in many of the circumstances, but because it is unrealistic it is more exciting. The author chose a very good setting for this story and describes the ship very well. I think the book could use a map in the front to give an idea of where she was going. The ending has great comparison between two different worlds and is quite unexpected. It is a very intriguing and interesting book on the whole.

Summary: a really spellbinding tale
Review: this book is GREAT! Read it. You'll love it. It leaves you either in a corner, afraid to go out of your "cabin" or up on your roof with her as a sailor. The characters were all really great except for a few people( you'll find out).
