We'll start out by telling you about the three main characters. Charlotte is very tactful and shy young lady. She comes aboard the ship to go home to America to her father. Captain Jaggery is malignant and hostile. He is notable for being harsh to the crew and to Charlotte. Zachariah is known for his hospitality towards Charlotte since she is the only girl on the ship. He is never grim but always prudent and watches out for Charlotte. The whole story is mainly about a girl named Charlotte Doyle. On her voyage to America she faces the hardships of being part of the crew. She learns how to be more independant. She has to deal with her friend Zachariah and what happened to him. Also, she has to deal with being accused of murder. This book hold you in suspense. The details were put in chronological order. Mystery and mjurder on sea is very creative theme. The dialogues include understandable language. When the book mentions the parts of the ship, you will find there is a diagram in the back, so all you have to do is just flip back. Summary: The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle
Review: "The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle" is about a 13 year old American girl who was sent to Liverpool, England at the age of six. At the age of 13 she finished her schooling and had to return to her family in Rhode Island. In the 1800's they only had sailing ships to go between America and England. She sailed back to America in a ship called the "Seahawk." It was owned by Charlotte's father. The ship was not the regular passenger ship known to many people. It had all men on it since there were no other passengers, and she was stuck in a very small cabin. Her first friend on the ship was the captain named Jaggery. Jaggery was quick to befriend Charlotte, but also very quick to lose her friendship in an awful fight over her defending Zachariah. Zachariah was an old black man who also befriended Charlotte. He gave her a knife and told her to keep it for protection. The real action in this story is when someone murders Hollybrass, one of Jaggery's friends. The murder weapon was Charlotte's dirk. Charlotte was charged with murder and was to be hung in 24 hours. Who could have done it? Does she escape her fate? To find out, read this exhilarating novel. It is a great book for all teens, but I think women might like it even more than men. My rating for this book is 4 out of 5.

Summary: Aye Aye Captain!
Review: (This is a 12 year old girl)This book was very interesting!! (In a good way!) I would give it 5 stars. The book was surprising and LONG! Its about this young 13 yr old girl who has to return home to rhode island to her parents. When she gets on the SEAHAWK she is suprised at how cramped it is and filthy. The crew seems to be hiding something, and then when she least expects it she finds out her nice captain is actually extremely cruel to all of the crew and the crew has come for revenge for taking the arm of a healthy crew member on a recent voyage! Which side will Charlotte choose?! Will she make it all the way back to rhode Island without running into any storms?

Summary: Live vicariously through Charlotte!
Review: I first read this book at age 11 when I received it as a birthday present. That was 12 years ago, and I've re-read it many times since then. To a sheltered, suburban kid, the idea of a young girl being thrown into a difficult situation on her own and then making a success of it was thrilling. I loved escaping into the adventure. Unlike most children's books, this one wasn't afraid to throw in some real danger and suspense ... along with important lessons about finding out who your real friends are and being true to yourself.

Summary: Thrilling High Seas Adventure
Review: The year is 1832, and thirteen-year-old Charlotte Doyle is excited to make an interesting voyage across the Atlantic Ocean, being transported from Liverpool, England, home to her family in Providence, Rhode Island by way of ship. She is lead to believe that other families with children her age will be accompanying her on this trip, as it is improper for a girl of her age to be traveling with a group of men, but when they never show up, she is forced to board by herself, and is soon thrown into a tailspin. Before Charlotte even knows what is going on, she is not only accused of murder, but brought to trial, and found guilty, as well. This is her story. The truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, as she lived it.

THE TRUE CONFESSIONS OF CHARLOTTE DOYLE is an amazing work of literary fiction, that will stay with the reader for years and years to come. Charlotte is an intelligent, strong willed, strong minded, and brave young girl, who makes the best of all of the challenges she faces on her journey. She is not afraid of a little hard work, and even enjoys it to a certain extent. Through her adventures she keeps her head up and a smile on her face, just to prove to everyone around her that she can do anything that a man can, and sometimes she can even do it better. A must have book for anyone interested in historical fiction, as this is one of the best.

Summary: Most Suspenseful Book I've Ever Read!
Review: This book kept me on the edge of my seat the whole book! I think that this is a book for people who like suspense and is at least 10 years of age. This book is not one of those girly-girl books or one of those big-tough-guy books, this book is good for both genders. I seriously recommend this book to anybody who like suspense. This book is just all-in-all great.
