Summary: an OK book
Review: Canyons is about this 14-year old boy named Brennan who lives alone with his mom, and an Indian boy named Coyote Runs who lived in the same place 200 years ago. Brennan found Coyote's skull in a canyon and researches it. When he finds out who it belonged to, (from here on the book gets really weird) the skull starts talking to him. Yup, that's right, talking to him. It wants to be taken to this ancient place. To me it sounded like Brennan was going insane at this point. Some people really get all this stuff with Coyote's spirit and everything, but I thought it sounded like a bunch of baloney. At the end Brennan gets chased by a rescue team while he's trying to get Coyote back to his ancient place. He finally gets there. And that's about it. I thought something more interesting should happen when he finally reaches the ancient place, but he just puts the skull on a rock and leaves. Overall, this book is kind of weird, but I guess you have to understand the whole idea of Coyote Runs' spirit communicating with Brennan. That's pretty hard. It took me until I got 4/5 through the book to get it.

Summary: Excellent a must read!!
Review: Canyons is an exceptional book about a teenage boy, Brennan and an indian boy, Coyote Runs. I think Gary Paulsen did an amazing job with the story line. I would recommend it to anyone it just isn't a book for children. I have read it three times and plan on reading it to my students every year.

Summary: Canyons
Review: Canyons is an interesting book. It is about Brennan, a boy who lives with his mother. His father left the family when he was very young, and he has never forgiven him. Brennan liked to run around to free himself from all the problems he was going through. One day, Brennan went camping accompanied by Bill, his mother, and some children. It was then that Brennan found a skull. Later on, he realized that couldn't talk about the skull and somehow he felt attached to it...

Summary: Inspiring read for youngsters
Review: Canyons tells the story of two boys, Brennan Cole and Coyote Runs, whose lives and soul's, though a century apart, are mysteriously linked. Coyote Runs, a young Apache brave living in 1864, had just become a man when he and his group were cornered in a canyon and he was executed by soldiers, shot right in the middle of his forehead. Brennan Cole, camping near the same canyon more than a hundred years later, finds Coyote's skull, and although he ignores the story behind it, he will stop at nothing to find out. Driven by Coyote Run's disturbed spirit Brennan will engage in what is going to unknowingly become his own path to manhood, as he seeks for the answers that will grant Coyote's soul and his own the peace they so desperately need.

Summary: This book will hold your interest.
Review: Canyons was a very suspenseful book. I thought the book was very interesting also. The book was suspenseful because it had a lot of parts that you would not expect to read. The book was very detailed on how people do things in the story. The story was about a kid about 15 years old who is part of the 1860's time. His name was Coyote Runs . He was part of an Indian group called the Apaches . He was on a raid with his best friend. They went on raid to steal horse from the Mexicans. They have to cross the border from Texas to Mexico. During this time there was Bluebelly soldiers on the border. So the Apaches had to kill any Bluebellies that got in their way. If you want to find out more read the book. I would recommend this book to people in 9th grade. It's a really interesting book.
